I'm new here and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction here because this issue has been driving me crazy. I've googled and googled and googled and I can't seem to find anything that matches what I'm experiencing.
At any rate... I have a 2012 Xterra Pro-4X with approximately 55k on the clock. It has the duel rotary dials for fan speed and temperature setting with the 7 buttons. Since I've owned this vehicle there has always been an annoying issue with the climate controls. I've only ever been able to get A/C from the first two incremental settings of the temp dial. Any setting beyond those first two notches has come out as heat, even if the dial was in the blue. This has always been somewhat annoying but livable as I could have A/C when I needed it or heat when it was cold.
But now the A/C shuts off automatically after a few minutes of driving and changes over to heat. The A/C will be working fine and then I'll hear a click in the system and then it changes over to heat. All other controls work fine. The fan speed settings all work as they should. All the directional buttons and defrost work fine. It is really on the temp gauge.
The system seems to be fine otherwise. No leaks. The compressor seems to be fine. It's just the temp control itself seems to have mind of its own.
