I got some new goodies. I'll be doing my timing belt next month and while I'm at it I'll upgrade my alternator to a Quest 125A one and I'll be moving to an electric fan setup. I'll use a Derale 16749 fan controller and a 16" 3000cfm fan; how I'll shroud it is yet to be determined. I'll use an inline temp sensor adapter (3/8") from Steiger Performance to get the temp readings. It will be more accurate than a radiator probe.

I did my timing belt this weekend; everything went well. The X is running and I'm relieved. Feels good to save some serious $$$. :D

Here is a pic of torn down:

In prep for my electric fan conversion I installed a inline hose adapter for a 3/8" NPT to be used as the temperature sensor. I using the mechanical fan for a week or two until I do my alternator upgrade and e-fan swap. I intend to do a e-fan swap write-up when I do the work.

I finally have something new to post! Grad school has been keeping me busy and the X has been neglected.

Although I ordered it a few months ago, I just picked up my new RLC front bumper! Oooh yeaaaah!!

I'm real happy with the look and the James' at RLC really do craft a nice product. Highly recommended.

More pics to come after I paint it. :)

They were $20 at Walmart; that was my sweet spot. :)

I ordered a SPDT switch from OTRATTW to modify the PIAA 525 OEM switch. Once that comes in I'll get those wired up. Really looking forward to some mod time. :D

Yeah, PIAA's aren't cheap. I got a set of 525's from a fellow X'er at the Badlands last year for $100. Just now getting around to doing something with them. I got my fogs wired up today and right as I was about to do clean the mailman drove by and dropped of my OTRATTW switch. I'm gonna try to get the PIAA's online tomorrow morning. We'll see if that pans out. :D

Thanks y'all.

I got some more done today. The PIAA 525's are wired up and functional using a custom SPDT switch instead of the ugly OEM one. Pics below:

I got my winch up and running today with some help from Noxious007. The RLC front bumper has a great design; works perfectly!

Thanks guys. We didn't take it all the way off; just the front 4 (of 6) bolts so we could rotate it down. We supported the bumper with jack stands as we mounted the winch and then just bolted it back where it was. It took us about an hour and a half and we were taking our time.

You really think 62 pounds will throw off my alignment that much?

That winch looks awesome with the RLC.

One quick question. Are you running a thermostat on your efan? I am planning on running a setup and just trying to figure out what I want to run, so I figured I would ask the people who have them. I am buying the fan from Dave, who got it from Ian (Nox).

What would you recommend for those who want to run a thermostat switch?

I don't have my e-fan installed yet. I'll be doing it very very soon and will do a write-up when I do it. The switch/relay I'll use is the Derale 16749 fan controller (pic above). Whatever you are getting from Dave will work. I helped Nox install his e-fan setup on his old Gen1 so whatever relay/wiring you get from Dave should be good to go. Let me know if you have any questions; I may be able to help.
