You are both right and wrong. By strictest technicality, you are supposed to be able to burn only one copy of a CD from either your mp3 library or other CDs...however, as a practical matter, the copyright laws are intended to prevent mass file-sharing and dissemination. For instance, itunes allows you to share your music among several computers, which bends the one person, one license rule. The most technical interpretation would mean every "mix tape" you ever made for anyone would be illegal.

Sorry RANT, not to jump all over you, and for that I apologize but it is a common misconception of what is illegal and what is legal.

There is a court case on this.. back in the 80s this came up.. With people making mix tapes.. The record companies tried to stop the sale of blank cassette tapes..


But now in days you never own any music.. your leasing the rights.. As a musician Im totally against stealing music P2P.. but mix tapes on this scale is ok..

Go ahead and take me off the list. I'm entirely too busy and also too lazy to put together a mix of music and a written description of each track, especially when I really don't think it will appeal to anyone but me. It's a fun idea, I just don't really want to participate anymore.

Correct sir. I agree on P2P sharing. It's a matter of intent and scale. Music shared among friends (a great thing) is different than providing a vehicle for commercial dissemination of music without remuneration to the licenseholder.

That was a lot of two dollar words, right there.

Anyway, we're up to six of us. When we hit 10, I'll PM everyone participating my address and we'll get to it! One question I got was how many tracks? Answer: as many as you can fit on a normal recordable CD. 16-18ish, normally...

With Doodle and Drb we're up to 8. Couple more! J Ev - all you have to do is make one CD, and make identical copies. As far as track list, we can post those here. I have you down as a no, but if you change your mind let me know.

Ok Aaron makes 10, so everyone on last night's PM send nine instead go eight. Aaron I'll pm my address, make a cd and nine total copies and send it to me. CDs made and sent by Monday. Herewego!

i guess as long as it plays on a CD...I think I'm doing wmv if I'm not mistaken. I just make a file in itunes and rip it to a CD. but yeah, no MP3s

i feel like the biggest ass. Looks like he doesnt have the writer on his old ass dell to make cd's. WAH!!! Sorry guys, but i guess you can count me out. :(

Do we need to write our username on our CD's we are mailing to you NMterra's so that when you divide them up it'll be easier? Also do we need to include a list of the songs? (just 1 list or 9 list so you can mail 1 with each)

I think it would be easiest if there was like a "your package to me should contain this: blah blah blah"

OK Aaron - loaded question aside...

Why are you limiting it to 10 songs? Put however many you want that fits. You need to make 10 identical copies of the CD...Don't worry about the list, we can deal with that here after we get everyone's CDs. If you want to put your handle on the CDs fine, otherwise I will.

As for your package...nevermind

Send me 9 identical CDs, one for everyone in the exchange (leaving it at 9 in case Doodle stumbles across a working disc drive)
