Ever get the urge to go canoeing in the middle of winter?...WELL DON'T haha

On a Fall saterday we did an offroad trip into a backcountry lake. Nice day, nice lake but the fishing was terrible.

So sunday we decided to go back with a canoe. The entire lake frooze up with a 1/4" sheet of ice overnight!

We weren't about to let that stop us... so we put the fat kid (me) up front and away we went.

The canoe would ride up onto the ice about a foot and then break down into it.

The fishing was still terrible.

Seems like a movie setting... were there any large fish needing to get to the ocean by any chance?... Yes that was lame.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post btw.

My parents have a canoe that I steal from time-to-time and like to take on the local rivers and inlets from lakes.

haha Rattfink ...Free Willy #8?

Never got any bites at all... on the saterday one of the guys reeled in a severed fish head so we know there is fish in there.

TN: I remember a few things froze up. Icicles on the paddle tips, paddles to the boat, butts to the metal seats ;) and the brakes/drivetrain on the truck we used to get up there froze up tight enough that 4-lo with a 318 V8 complained before breaking it free. Thank gobble we left it in 4-Lo. Another reason why a propane tourch is a must have on the trails.

LOL I drove 2 hours to a lake this week to launch kayaks. Lake froze solid. I wanted to go in anyways girlfriend wanted nothing to do with that. Good to know there are like minded people out there.
