Hi, I have a used Bulldog 40415 I got off Ebay $300 shipped (the only place that would ship to Calif because our "moral Superiors" won't allow us to have nice things). Problem is it will not install the file to the ECM giving code 440 (an unknown error). Monitoring works fine but the BD update is for 2005-2013 Xterra, I have a 2014. I will call them my next day off. Has anyone successfully used the 40415 on a 2014 X? And what if any custom settings do you use?

It likely won't install because the previous owner didn't un pair the unit from their vehicle.

BD's will only install to the vehicle who's VIN number is paired to the unit.

Call BD.

Hi, it was unpaired, just wouldn't install to the ECM. I called BD and they did a update to include the 2014 X all is fine now. Wondering what settings anyone is using. Do you advance timing ect. ?

Advancing the timing won't help unless you're going to run higher octane fuels. The factory ECM has enough advance built in that running mid grade will net you some gains as is.

I'm haven't seen a definitive list of what they actually offer for the Nissan ECM so I won't invest in one of the tuners. BD's website doesn't tell you what it DOES do, only what it MIGHT do.

What options does it offer for you to change?

Honestly, your options for individual items is pretty limited. I run the premium tune, and don't advance the timing. The monitoring is awesome. along with code reading and clearing.
