Got some ?'s on the ole Bully Dog Pro GT gas (PN-40410,40415,40417)

When I got it I was under the impression it corrected the speedometer to the tire size and gears that the vehicle is running. After all its the first thing that pops up on the ads.

However, after researching I have noticed that looking deeper into it that Bully Dog conveniently leaves out the speedometer correction has a feature on the Nissan Bully Dog portion of their website. The speedometer correction may work for other brands of vehicles (i.e. Ford, Chev, and Jeep), but looks like it doesn't on Nissan, Toyota's, and maybe a few others.

Does someone have actual confirmation that the Bully Dog does not correct the speedo? I spent a good bit of time on this and have not found actual confirmation via the web. I did a quick check while driving with a GPS and it seems off.

I can confirm. That the BD pro tuner does not have the ability to correct the wheel sizes or gear ratios for the speedometer

IIRC hyper tech came out with an in-line module that was able to correct for tire sizes but was only designed for the 2005-2008 model years.

How can we confirm though? I believe you and I feel the same way (now). However, most forums and research I have seen have people saying it does. There is literally over 20 reviews on Amazon saying it does and 1 saying it doesn't. Not that I believe them. I just wish Bully Dog would state that on there website to take out all the guessing.

Since the BD doesn't calibrate the speedometer, what does?

I had one installed in my X before I sold it. Still have the tuner but it’s not compatible with my new to me Silverado.

I am not sure in the Nissan Consult 2 system can fix the tire size issue. I just went with the 33” duratracks and didn’t bother reprogramming and I was good for multiple years ( and through 2 sets of duratracs with out having any issues)

For me BD is a must simply for the changing of the shift points. When the gears went in the auto tranny had some interesting shift timing. Also, it helped smooth my idle. I like it and still have a near need for it due to the mods with auto trans.

FYI, Not sure what year truck you have. I bought one of my BD's used from a guy that claimed it was originally for his X and BD sent him a tune for his 13' Silverado. I purchased it with the supposed Silverado tune and emailed BD to have it changed back to the X. They did it no problem via download though email.

I will most likely be listing the BD for the Xterra on here soon. I've also been looking for one for the silverado and for the 2017 I need to get the BDX Performance tuner.

Hey guys, I think we were discussing this on OB. We can move the full discussion here since it's more applicable.

I have never found where BD says it'll correct the speedo for Nissans nor have I found anyone who said it would after having one. It's just one of the little eccentricities we have to work around.
