Those are some great shot. Love the one of the guy in the mud. After seeing that first one I thought, dude your not sitting in my truck! Nice to see a lot of xterras at one time. You don't see that too often.

long time no post, XN army. heres the short and sweet of what been going on in my life.

first check out the OP for some new "current pics".

so, end of summer i got my class A CDL, and i was an over the road truck driver for a little bit. so at that time the xterra was on hold til i could find something local and i have so im making some goal for this year with new found income.

yesterday was my birthday and i received an 48" High-Lift from the folks. its the only thing xterra related it didnt feel bad about asking for :).
and some time next week im going down to Chicago to pick up some Shrock sliders from a guy in GLX who no longer has a first gen.

so anyway goals for this year.....
- Calmini UCAs w/ leaf packs
-piecing together everything for a rear ARB diff locker, and maaaaaaaaaaybe get one for the R200 too.
- "Snorkel"
- camping supplies. one never has enough
- go wheeling more. i missed out on GLX Xtoberfest last year because trucking.

thats all i can say with in reason for this year. i shall leave you all with a snow spot pic.

Nice! go front locker first though. Makes a bigger difference then the rear. On approach to rocks and ledges the front turns right up boulders and ledges instead of diffing out sliding and bouncing. it's where the most weight is, you already have a LSD in the back. Rear locker is fun for those times you wanna go drifting though heh.

I'd drop the sliders off at a media blaster place would be much easier starting with a raw finish, sanding would totally be a days work. Powder coat is the only thing that kinda holds up to the Illinois salt spray from the tires but a quality KBS coating or Por 15 works pretty well.

Congrats on the recent employment! love where this build is going.

front locker first eh? i always thought the rear first made more sense since id manly use it going up something. do you have any articals on the subject?

http://www.arb.com.au/getting-started/ask-arb/air-lockers/010 Front or rear_.php

In the end its up to you to choose it does have advantages and disadvantages at either axle. Front does require a more gentle throttle application and some finess. You can't turn at all, it completly locks out the steering lol. But, its almost as much of a difference as 2wd 4wd with that axle on extreme terrain especially on big rock ledges it needs to walk or crawl up. As the article states its where the most weight resides that it makes the biggest difference. Having both front and rear on mine I wasn't as impressed with the rear as the rear has so much more flex and most of the time when it lost traction it was both tires and the locker did very little. Rear is handy in the winter though to when you're to lazy to engage 4wd to make it up a icy driveway. Can't go wrong with either. OEM's likely stick to the back so dumb people don't kill themselves not being able to turn.

I love my rear locker. I'd do it again in a heart beat. I understand that the front one has more functionality for extreme off road but on the east coast we don't have that. Once we move out west it will be a different story. And when I do the SAS, I'll have an ARB in that.

My front diff is welded and I love it.. sometimes turning on tight trails is a task but unlocking one hub solves that.. it's gotten me thru a lot of rocks/ledges where I need the grip to pull the front end up over to continue. A rear locker would be nice, but for $100 and a few hours in the shop to swap it in after my buddy welded it up.. can't beat that for the capability it adds

thanks for the imput guys, but im gonna go for the rear locker first. it makes more sense to me for what i do as of now. later when i add the front it will be used as kind of a trump card to get me out of binds before i break out the snatch straps.

sup.

finally got my sliders on! yesterday was sand and paint, and today, with help from my buddy Jon (RedRaider79) we put them on.

for paint i used Rustolium rust stop. the sliders were sitting in their former owners garage for about a year so they were pretty rusty. i couldnt get them down to all bare metal or at the least a half way descent layer of paint. i guess it would seem that the coats or maybe even single coat the shrock themselves put on is very thin. granted i wouldnt pay 80-100 extra in cash to pay them for paint when its gonna get beat up anyway if i bought them new. but thats just my opinion. :)

heres some pics.

until next time!
