Just looking at this makes my head hurt knowing Imma be in the same boat soon...

I have been holding off on doing it for a couple years. And finally decided to dive into it as all the random wires were pissing me off.

Got a bit more done on the wiring

New rad support built and installed. The pins had broke off the bottom of my relatively new rad rad so made a cradle to support the bottom of the radiator with rubber mounts.

Now I need to finish some wiring, build a new front bumper, fix the rear bumper and if there is time try and fix the evap system.

New deck and switch panel installed and working.

Starting another round of maintenance



On the list as of now.
Water pump and timing belt
Headers and cat delete
New muffler
Repack wheel bearings
Check all u joints
Rear leafs


And considering pulling the engine as the rear main is leaking a bit and thinking about preemptively changing the clutch.

Glad I pulled the transmission to check the clutch, it is definitely at the end of its life.

Yikes! No kidding it's a good thing you pulled it.

Out of curiosity, what did you use to mount the switches under the radio? Did you fabricate that? I was thinking about doing something similar on mine.

hopefully the triple pass will hold together.
Need to order front u-joints, spindle studs and front break calipers. Then I think I can out the front end back together and go for a test drive.

It seams to be driving good. Need to get a set of rear leafs and recenter the steering wheel. Then it should be good to go.

Just starting the full damage assessment from the last trip, I hit hard enough on the front passenger side to not only wreck the tire and wheel and put the track bar through the oil filter. But also snaped the ujoint and broke the splines off in the diff

Used tcase with calmini crawler gears installed yesterday. Installed new long side axle shaft and stub. Repacked wheel bearings and hubs.

The xterra started nicely after a couple cranks. Had only been sitting 2 years. Got the new front diff under it and mostly buttoned up last nights. Another couple hours in the shop tonight should have it back on the road. Stlll lots left to do on the want list. But this will get it driving and usable again.
