Have had it hop out of gear a few times after a solid hit at speed on a pothole. That’s the biggest annoyance.

Wish I had random trails everywhere around here...
I am really fortunate with where I live, an hour and a bit to the west is one of Canada’s largest city areas, but north-east-south is all forest and mountains. Heck, even a solid half hour west is still full of forest and mountains!

My son and I were out yesterday exploring yet another logging road that was new to us. Dewdney Creek FSR.

Picked up some M6x50mm stainless bolts and lock washers today, also some galvanized 5/16” carriage bolts & nuts.
Going to install a wide set of cross bars onto my roof rack to make it easier for moving canoes and kayaks. The M6 bolts will be thru bolting the front bar into the nuts that the front cargo basket gets attached to.

Took care of a couple random rattles today, re-fastened the skid plate on the lower cross member. Also replaced the drivers side sway bar bushings as they had completely disappeared and it sounded like a tin can full of spoons driving over bumps. Much better now, and I also finally used up these random bushings that had been in my tool box for 10 years. Haha.

Also started to weld together my accessory hitch (lite duty 2” receiver for bike rack...not for towing).
Need to get lots more practice with this new little welder before tackling anything major or visible. Forgot how spattery flux core is.

Final goal for the X is upping the armour all round, manual hubs, adding a winch, and a new centre link to finish off the steering.

I guess that’s about it outside of the usual maintenance.

It’s mostly for logging roads and deactivated FSR’s, not planning on hard wheeling it. Just want it pretty bullet proof for remote trips.

The second one was up Bridal Falls FSR, was only 3km long, but man was it steep. Luckily met the 3 other trucks at pull outs, would not have been fun backing down anywhere on this one.
And the final road of the day was a great explore up into the headwaters of Ruby Creek. There were landslides to cross, snow patches, rocks, logs. A lightening storm, and hail. Full meal deal. A great day out.

Love it! This is what I picture my daughter and I doing in a couple of years.

Just finished putting in the HD tie rods and new tie rod ends all around.
Very easy and straightforward, hand tools (19 & 22 mm spanners, pliers, hammer), took about 1:45hr just using hand tools from pulling in to shop to backing it out.
In for an overdue alignment on Tuesday. Should have done it after my PML, but wanted to get these tie rods in first.

That blind spot mirror cane with the truck from the previous owner. And to be honest about it...I LOVE IT.
I can back right up to my trailer hitch first try, parallel parking in tight spaces is a snap, and turning around on a tight trail is easy too. I was sceptical at first, but now I can’t imagine not having it.

Nice truck man! Another BC Xterra over here - I'm in Squamish, I'll look out for your orange X around the back roads!
Pretty sure I saw your X parked at Canadian Tire lot this past week. I was up in Squish for my sons day camp. Saw a fair number of built x’s up there.

It’s funny you should ask that because I just sold them yesterday I’ve decided to go a slightly different route and to make some low profile rocker guards out of C channel going to save a fair bit of weight

Got out for a nice local 4wd trip with the family. This was all within 20km of our house.

Been up and down the main road a few times for fishing. Did not know that you could drive up to Silver Peak. Sweet!
There was an old mine up silver peak, which I believe has had some recent prospecting work done, so between that and the logging it is in pretty good shape. Makes an awesome hike.
