I'm looking for a good spot to set up camp for a couple days. I'm thinking on the east side of the Cascades. Somewhere desert-ish, but a small, swimmable lake would definitely be a plus. Preferably somewhere "socially distant" (ie: nobody else around), where we can do some shooting, hiking a hopefully swim a bit.
Does anybody here know of such a place?
The areas I've thought about are the Bethel Ridge Area, maybe between Wenatchee and Highway 12, west of Highway 82. We'd be willing to go as far as the Alvord Desert, but prefer somewhere less than 9 hours from Tacoma.
