So originally I had my cb radio mounted here

And well I liked it but it just wasn’t cutting it. So after the midland blew up and I have no idea how it just crapped itself I decided to get the cobra 29 lx lcd black edition cb radio. I also wanted to have a new mounting place for it. I looked around and most liked this spot

But didn’t want to drill holes in the ceiling .So I ended up with this

Warning
You will need to move your mirror depending its location.
If you don’t this may result in poor mirror damage.

What you’ll need
1- dremmel or some cutoff tool and grinder
1 1/4 “ x 40inch stainless steel piece( you can find this at home deopt or lowes in the specialty bolt section)
2- Whatever size bolt you want plus nuts to go along with it. I went with like a few sizes bigger than ¼ but you’d be fine with the 1/4th
2- ¼ bolts( you will be grinding these down)
set of drill bits
sharpie
drill
clamps
tape measure
it’s a mess but it works for me

so youll want to start by measuring were you want the cb. This depends on the mirror location and how close you want it to the headlamp. Mine measured out perfectly at 15 inches.
So next youl cut to pieces at 15 inches each. After I went out to measure again I found that I wanted five inches of curve to perfectly set my cb on with plenty of gab. So I marked it five inches from the end put it on the end of the table and started hitting it. Once I got a decent bend I was able to do it with my hands and it turned out like this.
But note after installing I wanted to press it in even more, and the clamps helped a lot. I also wedged an inch off the tip to get the cretin lip that is in our ceilings looked like this at first but I didn’t take pictures after messing with it. I recommend doing test fits on this one and tweaking it to your liking.

Next mark off exactly ½ inch off the tip and drill.

Next you will need to drill into the cross member in your ceiling. Pull the head lamp and remove the light, its pretty easy just a clip. If your worried about the drill touching the ceiling fabric, it dose but the angle you do it at the light should hide it like on mine,

Make sure the lip of the steel dosent stick to far off or the light will not sit properly.

Now this is the part I cant guide you through cause all cb radio mounts are different and different lengths. But use the mount you have and place it on top and drill through.
Next using your 1/4th bolts gring them down so they will just barley touch the fabric. I tapped my holes so I didn’t need a nut as I wanted it as flush as possible.

Hey, that's clean. I'm working on finding a spot to mount my CB now too. I have some ideas. I'm curious as well to see where/how you ran wire too.

Nice write up. Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to but mine up there due to the sunglasses holder

Yeah, this is best for pre-'08 models. But if you have Cobra 75WXT, the mini control box would easily fit inside the sunglasses panel and knock a hole in the bluetooth panel to attach the CB transmitter cable to and detach when not in use.

Just an idea.
