Gonna get a new battery.

Gonna be AGM.

Stock is 24F of course. However. According to Interstate, their MTZ-34R fits. And it looks accurate based on construction and size.

The 34R has higher CCAs (800 vs 710). But is it worth the $80?

24F AGMs are pretty long wait currently to.

Thoughts?

It got lost in the ever flowing stream that is TGPWS thread, but the other day I saw your post that you were trying to buy one from Costco, and I had asked if they were actually finally getting these. I had been wanting to get an AGM from them for a long time but they hadn't been available through Costco for like... the past year and a half. Are you looking at getting these through Costco?

Some slow starts on cold mornings in our '06 forced my hand back in January, so I ended up getting a Diehard 24F AGM from Advance Auto because that's what I could find locally. Happy with it so far.

Our '09 has a several year old Odyssey 34R that's been great but inevitably will need replacing.

So I kinda have the same question, when the time comes whether the 34R is worth it over a 24F. The '09 has a winch whereas the '06 does not, other than that they are pretty similarly equipped.

That is a hard question - They both have about the same RC 120 for the 24f and 125 for the 34r and the 24f actually has a larger Ah rating - So with the CCA being the only area where the 34r excels I would say no unless you have a winch then I'd smack that $@#%& in there - just my thought not gospel

I can order through work and get it from a local distributor. So that's why I was looking at Interstate. And I will have a winch eventually.

I know Costco said they could order the 24F AGM for me but it would take 2-4 weeks to get. The local Interstate distributor would have to order the 24F but has the 34R in stock.

I forget the designation but 35 something was stock for mine and I went up to 24F at 840 CCA.

I don’t know the exact science of it, but I know the stock alternator doesn’t generate enough power to fully charge it, and if I understand correctly basically keeps it at about 80%. But I don’t know if that means I only have 80% of the listed amperage or if I have 80% “stored” power so full power but less life.

So all that is to say I’m basically no help in answering your actual question.
