ADDING BUMPER LIGHTS TO 1st GEN

Wanting to add OE style bumper lights to 2002 SE. Came without lights and factory block-outs in the bumper. I located a "unused 2-wire plug" on the factory harness, behind the bumper, at each light location. I assumed these "factory plugs" are for optional OE bumper lights, and that maybe they turn on with the headlights? I turned the headlights on and checked each unused plug for current and they were dead. Are these "factory plugs" actually for bumper lights? If so, what switch turns the bumper lights on/off? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question, but I just don't know. Thanks

Sorry, what is a lighting stalk?
The turn signal stalk. You twist the end to turn the lights on. Yours probably doesn't have the secondary ring behind the headlight switch that toggles the fog lights. You need to change the entire turn signal stalk to one with the fog light switch. That and the fog lights and you should be in business.

I'd like to know where those fog light pigtails terminate. It would be so easy to put fogs in the factory position, use the factory wiring, but add a rocker switch to the dash instead of changing that stalk. I see the stalk and lights used on ebay all the time.

You are correct. I picked up a turn signal indicator switch (with the extra ring dial switch) from the salvage yard and installed it in the steering column. These are available in many 2000-2004 Xterras, Sentras, Maximas & Frontiers. The only other thing required, was to install a relay in the fog light position, in the fuse box under the hood. It did take me a minute to figure out, they will only turn on/off if the headlights are on (meaning they cannot be operated without the headlights). Thanks for your help.
