So I decided I would go and check out the place I was asking about for myself. I got there and there were 2 jeeps already at the place driving around on the public land. In the other picture you can 3 cars and some people and 4 wheelers.
LINES.jpg

I figured I would join the heeps and show them how a xterra does it. I almost got stuck once, there was a spot of really deep dry bed rock that I tried to turn around in.

Im about to go out and check the X for any leaks (besides the power steering hose), mainly just for oil where I changed it a few days ago. If where all good Im heading back out to this spot in a hour or so, going to try and stay out of the mud cause its a pain to clean! Pics when I get back!

So we had a little line of thunder storms come through last night and it down poured for about 5 minutes, it must have rained more there than it did at my house :) Can you say I wasn't going to set foot in this creek that had turned into a river with a current! I can normally drive through it with EASE. In my original post, 3rd picture of my Xterra you can see how low it normally is.

Some of my amateur video skills lol. The camera on top on my windshield is a old crappy camera so thats why the footage from above the hood turned out awful. A couple days ago I was looking at likes build thread where he slid into that tree on his drivers door and I was seeing that happening to myself, you can see in the video how close I come to hitting it!

He is 2wd. It's difficult to get mud on the front of the mirror when you can't spend the front tires.

Yep went throughout it in reverse do I could cover the doors...it is very hard to do with a 4x2 and tires that don't stick out of the wheel well.

I got stuck once but I used some boards and a skinny pedal and got out.

This is worth your time so read it all :D
IMG_4616.jpg

Now that its all said and done today was a awesome/funny day! It started out meeting at the fast station at 9am, my buddy couldn't take his dads jeep so he ended up taking his 4x2 nissan pathfinder...luckily we had my friends lifted 4x4 f150 with us (he saved the day multiple times).
I lead the group out to the spot pictured above. We drove around for a bit and then found a trail I didn't know about so it was fords time to shine...well even with a lift he bottomed his rear diff out and got stuck. The Xterra was there to save the day!

After pulling him out we washed off in the creek and began to fish, well that lasted for a few minutes lol. We grabbed something to eat at the store up the street then headed to a place my buddy in the pathfinder knew about. It looked intimidating but it was pretty shallow stuff that is until your tires get caked in mud and it turns them into track slicks. Well me and the f150 made it to the creek fine, we left the pathfinder up at the trail beginning because he didn't want to get muddy at the time.

We then decided to take his pathy through the trails, may I remind you its 4x2 lol
He made it just fine until we decided to turn around then he got stuck BIG time.
IMG_4632.jpg

I was then nominated to go get the kathy with my xterra. I didn't make it far until I got hung up, lost momentum and got stuck. Then I got uber pissed because a tree decided to rape my drivers side!!!
IMG_4627.jpg

In this pic its against my rear tire but once I backed up some it hit my drivers side body.
IMG_4628.jpg

We got me out and onto dry grass thanks to the f150.

Now it was the 4x4 f150's turn to go get the pathy. It made it just fine!

Hooked up and got the pathy out no problems. Since my X was back down the trail and I was pretty muddy I decided to hop in the truck bed....BAD choice! The f150 hit a rut and the truck kicked me up onto my feet. He then hit the side of the mud rut and the truck threw me up into the air about 8ft from the ground and I flew out over the truck and landed into the mud pit...with a 1 week old iPhone 4S and my keys with a flash drive with ALL my school papers saved to it. FML OH and I landed on my back which is pretty sore at the moment. I had already had my door raped by the tree and now I'm covered in mud, soaking wet with my brand new phone in my pocket The phone seems to be okay now thanks to a otter box and my keys are still sitting in rice.

Then we did a 10 point turn in the f150 to get my unstuck and he bashed his bumpers against a few trees. All in all Im sure I have some scratched and dents on my drivers side (they are still covered in mud so I can't tell) and he's down a trailer hitch insert.

We then went back into the creek cleaned the tires out and made it out just fine! Thank gobble!!

Hah thats the thing I was holding on to his tool box!! But with muddy hands its hard to do! I will give him a bath tomorrow and see if the scratched will come out, but I rubbed that tree pretty hard. Just another reason to bedline the bottom of the doors :D
And above 4k RPM something squeals...I think its just my serpentine belt that needs replacing.

I think that I had this happen to me a while back when the belt got caked in mud.. Try cleaning it? and if not.. well then replace it.

But it looks like you guys had fun, I am jealous, as we have nothing like that around us..

Ill probably replace it because every few start ups it squeals BAD for about 10 seconds, its embarrassing!

I had no idea of the trails through the woods that we went to today!

Everytime I wheel and get my X covered in mud and all scratched up I tell myself "Thats the last time I'm ever doing this to my daily driver" lol but seriously

Don't worry about it too much Aaron. You're better off having all kinds of fun with it and then when you sell it you're still going to be selling a high mileage vehicle. People tend to care a little less about the pin striping at 200k miles.

Found a sweet new spot to chill and swim in the river today!
c7321e77.jpg

My friend told me there were "trails" ha no just a tiny trail you take to get the the public fishing grounds. Getting in is easy...getting out is a different story!
The road out. Looks easy but in person its pretty scary with deep ruts
fbaa8f64.jpg

Needless to say I made it up the first time without any tire spin and impressed him with the 4x2!

Circled around to drop him off and leave.

Got stuck!
I had to use the winch to get out, I know shame on me for not having a fairlead yet (its in the mail) but If I backed down the hill my risk of rolling over was so much greater!

Yeah, I had no problems getting up the hill. Drove down there one day after it had rained and still made it up in 2WD. It is a little ruff on the cause of the rocks but its not to bad

Same spot as pictured above...just alot muddier and alot deeper creek!

Well this guy got a new jeep wrangler today and wanted to take it out mudding so we all went to our spot to wait for them to get there. The cherokee got tired of waiting and took off up the mud hill and got to the other side and go stuck. We waited and still a no show on the power stroke, cummins, and new wrangler. So my X (the recovery truck) took off and made it 75% up the hill then caught a huge rut and slid down into a mud puddle. I was sitting on two wheels the rear drivers and front passengers the back was lfexed out and the front drivers tire was off the ground. The group finally showed up. The huge powerstroke tried to pull me out because it was the best bet since I was on the down slope to the way out and anyone trying to leave would just slide in the ruts and hit me head on. The guy got the truck 2 weeks ago, traded his mercedes for it. SMH had no idea what to do. The thing has front locking hubs and all. He didnt realized he started sliding when pulling me and he slid into the deeps ruts on top the hill and high centered the drivers side and flexed out the rear. So he was stuck. The other cummins driver was a little girl and didnt want to use it. The jeep come to find out has street tires and no lift so we told him to leave. We destroyed that jeep til it got its self out then we hooked it up to the front of the powerstroke and tried to get it to back down the hill to get the stroker out. No go. So i winched myself ALL the way up to the back of the stroker and then we decided it was best for my to basically floor it in reverse til I got down the hill so I wouldnt catch the ruts again. Well I didnt want to floor it so yeah I caught the ruts again and got tossed all the way into the hole smashed the rear bumper a bit on the dirt mound. Then the cummins finally moved and manned up and I winched sideways and used him as an anchor to get myself all the way out. Ok so 1 truck (mine is out). My truck then because the son and shined light on the scene. The cummins backed up and (the driver being very inexperienced off road) floored it and dragged the stroker all the way down the hill and through the ruts I almost flipped my truck in and his stroker almost rolled on its side when he got out we heard a hissing he busted the bead lock on his tired cause the cummins yanked him so fast and he hit the hole I was in previously so hard. Now 2 trucks out the only one left the good ole cherokee that still doesnt have 4x4. About that...that thing is sunk in bad, and we think he busted a break line and or something cause somthing sounded like a hose busting and his brakes dont seem to be working. Its still burried in the hole it dug and I guess we are going to try again tomorrow. I have no idea but I am NOT driving cause my truck is staying on the pavement.
Sorry but the videos are to vulgar for XN, its what happens when you get a bunch of guys together who drive $20,000 trucks and they are stuck.
I appologize for the lighting all I had was an iPhone.

Yeah so the cherokee owner just called they went back into town to get tire sealer and are trying to seal the tire and air it back up to go get the cherokee. They are dying for me to come back out, slim chance of that! Ha!
