A-Pillar Switch Mount

Ok, so I am looking for a good place to mount some more switches for lights, and I can't seem to really find a good place. So I have seen that for jeeps you can buy an A-Pillar switch pod, and it basically mounts to the A-Pillar in the car. So I was wondering if anyone has ever done this for an Xterra, or something similar to this? Like does anyone sell these types of things for Xterra's at all? I have been looking on the internet, and I can't find and specific for Xterra's sadly. I was thinking that maybe you could trim the Jeep A-Pillar to fit the Xterra A-Pillar, but I am not sure if it would fit even after the trimming.

Here is a link to an example of a Jeep A-Pilar mount: http://www.4wd.com/A-Pillar-Switch-...zUtM9RaCU2hAgRJtrL58NQVxzM8OWNi7cwaAnZW8P8HAQ

Cool idea, but I've never seen anything like it for the Xterra. On the 2nd gen there are a few switch positions down behind the shifter, next to the 4x4 selector. Maybe one of the 2nd gen guys will share what they've done.

Because of the the rollover crash protection airbags in the A-Pillar, that's probably not as convenient a place to put switches. In the Jeeps, there's not really anywhere that is convenient, which is why the A-pillar mounts came to be.

The best locations for 2nd gens, is to find a switch panel from a similar year Frontier with heated seats. Go from three-switch-panel to five:

Or in the panel next to the bluetooth mic in the roof console:

I also added a switch right beside my Stock Off road Light switch

please keep in mind that I did swap all of my OEM switches to the same type as what I added to make everything look the same

not to threadjack but, does the bluetooth setup work on a 2010 that does not have bt if i bought the piece? Iirc, the bt was for 2009 and previous and snap in slot orientation is different on the 2010s and recent models.

I'm not quite sure exactly what you are asking, but, I can tell you the the roof console in my 2012 is exactly the same as the one in my 2008. The BT component inside is a little different, but both leave room for a few switches to right side of the panel.

I see what you're asking now. You want to put the roof console that has the BT panel in a truck that only has sunglasses holder/light console. It should work, but in addition to the console, you will also need the correct rear bracket that goes between the headliner and the roof. Then the opening in the headliner will need to be cut to fit, and the holes in the front-most bracket may need to be modified.
