and there it is, telluride isn't to hell you ride simplified, its derived from tellurium, I guess that even tho the ski resort saved the town, its current occupants arent all kind to motorized recreation, still a super cool placeInteresting that another mine the Golden Fleece that sits above Lake San Cristobal started some of the gold rush. It produced about 1.4 million in gold and silver telluride minerals that were inter grown with uranium making for a very strange deposit. It is the only mine in the San Juan’s that had telluride minerals. Oddly there were none in the mines at the poorly named Telluride or at the very appropriately named Silverton. The biggest goldmines in Colorado were at Cripple Creek and were all Telluride minerals. Native tellurium is deadly btw just breathing a few specs can be very bad. Not so bad when wrapped up with gold and silver and some other elements
