2010 Xterra 6 Speed Manual Transmission Heating Up - Heat From Between Front Seats On Long Drives?

2010 Xterar with a 6 speed manual transmission. This issue has been ongoing for years but really just noticing where the heat inside the cabin is coming from on longer drives recently. It's coming from under the shifter/parking brake. Only pops up after highway drives for about an hour.

Fingers crossed it's just an exhaust leak, but is this a known issue? What could be causing the manual transmission to heat up so much? Anything else it could be?

that happens with all the 2nd gens. I've noticed it with both AT and MT (I've owned both)

the shifter boot tear or the transmission heating up? Wondering if I should be concerned about this or a sign of some sort of impending failure. The frame under the driver and passenger seat gets very hot and also smells of some burnign on the passenger side. Not reassuring.

Haven't noticed it with my 06 but I would think maybe it's just part of the way it's set up. There's a VDC computer underneath the center console that warms up a bit while driving but the ac ac should be more than able to get rid of that.

It's common for RWD/4WD vehicles to heat up in that area since you have not only the exhaust close by, but the volume of mechanical parts right there as well.

Change fluids in both the transmission and t-case. Look for leaks around everything and make sure you're not spraying some fluid out. The front output on the t-case has been known to begin leaking and slinging fluid around onto the exhaust which will cause a smell. Could also be the rear output of the t-case leaking onto the crossover pipe.

I think you're probably ok.

If it's a problem then I have a big problem.... Mine gets really warm.... one might say the cup holders get hot. My bully dog says I run in normal temp ranges at all times.
