2007 0448 evap code

I got evap code 0448. I replaced the solenoid and while out checked that the canister was not blocked. It seems to be flowing freely. Unfortunately I am still get the code and more frequently. I suppose it is possible the canister needs to be replaced? Any other thoughts on what the issue might be? I saw a warranty issue regarding possible blockage in the line between the tank and canister.

Any thoughts on most likely cause?

In my experience you need to blow all the dust out of the canister, solenoid and lines. And ideally put some kind of dust filter on the "intake" hose, either in place or running a hose to the driver's side taillight housing area.

I put a breather element / filter on the hose so it's not just pulling dusty air in from the frame. It's worked fine for me, although I did have to drop the spare and blow the filter off once when the code popped up again in the almost five years since I installed this.

You gotta blow out the canister. If your solenoid was fouled, the canister is full of dirt. You have to blow out through all of the holes until you no longer get any dust.

FWIW, you don't usually need to replace the solenoid. Douche it with WD-40, blow it out, douche it again, blow it out, then power it with a 12V battery to see if it actuates. If it does, just reinstall it after you clean everything. You need to do the filter on the end like @outback97 said.

Found a better photo of the same type of setup on our other Xterra. This ones an ‘09 and had an extra canister thing in place (Nissan's lame attempt to solve this dirt ingestion problem) which I removed, but you get the idea.
