It looks like a strong, well built bumper, but I am not too crazy about the way it looks. It is just not my style. I also think it needs a hoop. The build quality of the bumper looks amazing as have all of your other bumpers, I am just on the fence on the styling. :/

Hoops are possible and I've done plenty of them on my other bumpers. I didn't weigh the bumper but the 85lb estimate sounds close.

Thanks,

James

James, I may be bringing the X back up in the next month or 2. My wife said that sliders are a must so she can actully get in to the X and getting the Rad skid done as well.

What is the cost of this bumper? I really like it. Could you make one that would work with a 3" body lift?

I was just contemplating going after one of these if his pricing's as good as the first gen ones....except I'll need a prerunner style bar and a mount set for some hella500's instead of the plate that'd cover the lower part of the 09+ grille...

I feel like this is what it would look like if Batman drove a yellow Xterra. Wicked.

You know, I would really love to see their Gen1 bumper sized and with mounting points for a 2nd gen. That bumper actually mimics the "cheeks" of the 09+ and I think it would look great.

I toyed with the pix just a little... The black bumper was hard to see all the sweet details

I really like this but I would want somewhere to mount a light bar

He'll do it...I'm probably having him do one for me that sticks out enough to put some hella 500's on the bumper above the winch, and a prerunner style bar too, unfinished so I can tag a set of angle pointed D2's and a 12" led bar above the Hellas ;)

From the 2000-2004 RLC Bumper Thread:
Yeah I'm not a fan of his gen 2 yet.. I may take ours up there and do a design. . . But it's looking more like Insain will be building ours
Yea, there's only 2 2nd Gen bumpers hes done and they are hideous IMO. I'm really liking the Hardcore Offroad bumpers. Bare steel for 685 is a good price IMO. He def needs to work on 2nd Gen. 2nd Gen is getting more popular.

I'll be 3rd to agree on this. The geometries are a little strange to me. I wonder how open he is to changing it up? I mean, I don't have the funds available right now for one, but I'd like a rework. I'm partial to TAG's front bumpers.

I emailed him a while back and asked to see if he could replicate the look of the 1st gen and make it fit 2nd Gen. He said he wouldn't do it. I bet if you bought a bare steel 1st gen bumper, modified the mounting, I'm betting it would fit pretty damn well. This of course is coming from someone with no knowledge or experience with welding or fabrication lol but I've seen a guy chop a a tacoma bumper up and make it fit perfectly to a 1st gen. I'm not sure how much wider the 2nd gens are than the 1st gens. Someone photchop a 1st gen on a 2nd lol

I don't know if I ever posted this before, but, if I was given the chance again, I would never ever have bought this piece of crap RLC bumper.

He mounts the winch directly to the bumper facing with no proper support or bracing for it, so soon as I tried to winch something I bent the front bumper. The mounts were horrible and didn't match up. Nothing on this thing was the caliber or quality that I would've expected, given that their first gen stuff has been phenomenal and everyone loves it.
Mine came out the closest to a 1st gen bumper in appearance but the quality is horrendously lacking.

He stated that he attempted to use his winch and it bent the bumper. That's not a good sign. It's probably fine for hitting rocks and such but the 1st gen and 2nd gen designs are different. If you can't use the winch in a winch bumper, the bumper is completely useless other than a brush guard.

My winch bent my 1st gen RLC bumper. Not from using it, but the winch developed a short and pulled tight while sitting in the driveway. It pulled up the winch plate under it. I had to have it straightened and reinforced with 3/4" steel.

What do you mean? I've hit mine on a few rocks and it's held up great

You have a 1st gen, this thread is about the 2nd gen one...which was a total failure. The only "reinforcement" for the winch was literally two strips the dimensions of the feet for the winch, running vertically.

My mistake, I didn't read your previous post about your bumper bending. That's disappointing
