So ever since I bought my xterra about a little less than a year ago my check engine light has been on regarding my knock sensor. I want to eventually replace it but not very sure how to go about it. some people have said to relocate it, forget about it, or just remove it completely.
so what do you guys recommend me doing?
Also is this something that will effect my car in the mean time as far as engine wise or not?
I'm kinda familiar with what i'm doing but need a little extra help!

I did the nock sensor re-locate on my pathfinder ( same engine ) to no ill effect. To replace it proper you need to remove the intake plenum which is a PITA, but leads to other good maintenance practices. Like really cleaning the throttle body, replacing vacuum and coolant hoses before they fail.

I might possibly look into doing this if I want to do more with my engine but to be honest it does seem like a lot for a sensor that doesn't do anything else. thank you for your input though!
