2002 steering issue

Im at a loss and quite frankly teady to burn this mofo.
Ive had some weird wandering and in last 4 months Ive replaced everything on the front end.
After my gear box replacement the steering wheel was 45 degrees off but wander was gone. I had a wheel alignment thursday and the wander is back.
By wander I mean pulls right, correct it, pulls left back and forth like that. Seems to me steering wheel has to much play again. When I hold wheel tight and tey to twist steer wheel shaft its solid.
Today, tie rods and ball joints have no play.
WTF?? Any ideas to what Im over looking?

Upper control arm bushings? That's where the alignment is set on the 1st Gen. If the bushings have excess play the alignment will constantly shift.

You fellows that put lifts on your xterra's, torsion bar set to high make steering act up?
Only thing I can think of is adding couple extra turns on the torsion bar hanger after lower control arms installed

Maybe a possible loose wheel bearing? Maybe your steering box has some play in it.

If you're having trouble finding the cause of the problem, I'd say find a good shop and have them take a look at it.

No. The geometry of the torsion bars has zero effect on steering geometry.
