2001 Xterra 2.4 Liter Gas Guage , Yes I Know It's A Common Thing But,,,

I have a 2001 Xterra with the 2.4 liter . It sat in a field for 5 years dormant. I pulled it out of the field and got it going again. One of the things I had to replace was the fuel sending unit. It worked great. But after 1 year the gas gauge has sat at Empty. It has sat at Empty for the last 3 years that I have been driving it. All I do now is just fill it up and estimate my mileage. Well I am tired of doing this and want to know if there is any other fuel sending unit I can buy for it to work correctly. I replaced the original one with the factory OEM unit. Like I said it only worked a year . I have been driving last 3 years with no gas gauge working , but the unit still delivers fuel to the engine. Is there any other unit other than the OEM one that is more reliable ? Any help is appreciated.
