Yes. But no.

Only in the v6. The transmission has the same part number but the gear ratios are different. And on the 4wd models have a different tail section that houses 5th gear and bolts to the transfer case.

I see, well the reason I ask is because I’ve had a friend bring up doing an LS swap on it. My Xterra does have the V6 and I found an LS adapter kit for a 5 speed manual out of a z32. I was wondering if I could use this kit with the stock Xterra manual transmission and transfer case. Seems like a long shot but I wanted to ask. And also do you think the stock components could handle more power if it does work?

Yes. That should work just fine.

Sweet glad to hear that the stock transmission and transfer case can handle the increase in power. Now I have to decide which LS to put in it

Yeah. The transmission can take the heat. I'd recommend a new chain in the transfer case just to be on the safe side.

I have a complete 2003 chevy 2500 6.0L 2wd truck as my donor. It was my work truck for 4 years till i was rear ended and it was wrote off. It had new exhaust manifolds put on 2 days before it was hit.

Interesting. Any idea if the gear ratios are documented somehwere? Does that mean if one wanted to remove the transfer case and use the tail housing from the 2WD (for a 2WD application), that 5 gears could not be achieved? Or, does the tail housing on the 2WD version also house the 5th gear?

Same bell housing so just swap transmissions instead of the tail housing. Also you can find the FSM in nicoclub for free. Xterra vs 85 300zx.
