I really like these bumpers the more I look at them. Think I might get one this summer instead of new tires and mount an LED bar under the hoop. From what you guys say it sounds like he would be willing to work with me and make the center hoop angled forward prerunner style?

Any word on the rear + tire carrier?

Fixin' to get a front bumper built; if I go to pick it up it would be nice to come home with a front & rear :)

Give James a call. If you don't mind getting there early and taking your rear bumper off and spending a few hours there you could probably drive home with the very first rear just like I did with the front.

That's how the front bumpers got started. There was a lot of talk about it then one day I gave him a call. We worked out a time and next thing you know I'm driving home proudly scaring traffic with the unpainted and evil looking RLC prototype. It looked so mean I seriously considered just clear coating it and keep the raw industrial look. James likes making excellent products for vehicles that aren't as widely supported. He's a hands on kind of guy and likes to have the vehicle there to take his own measurements and visualize it as he fabs it all up.

That's awesome. I'm honestly looking forward to playing bumper cars with people who cut me off.

Kidding.

...maybe.

Aw shucks. Thanks.

I'll post up pictures of the front & rear when they're finished on the RLC fan page.

Speaking of which, I didn't see yours in there...

Hint hint.

Alright, I peeked and liked what I saw. Here's some serious questions on that rear: how did James structurally support the connection to the frame? Did you add frame stiffeners? I want a rear tire carrier too; are you having him build you that? I don't merely want a rear tire carrier for aesthetics, but need it to be functional since the stock hitch would be removed. Thus, I need to be sure the bumper accommodates for the weak-link on the frame.

Structurally supported with a 2" square bar under the top shelf, and I had frame stiffeners / stock tow hitch, but we sort of destroyed them, so he's making new ones.

Rear tire carrier is being finished up this week. I also needed it to be functional, so that and the frame stiffeners will be my rear shield.

I'll be taking it off today; I'll see if I can get some pictures of the inner guts.

Excellent! This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. I sent him an email last night, but he may be pretty darn busy right now.

Thanks. I'm no longer the missing link. Well not on the RLC fan page at least.

That looks great. I like how the hitch supports flare up to allow for more hand room when attaching a pin. Also, the hinge mount angle gives it a unique look. Again, another great product from RLC.

I thought about those after I left. We had them planned, just ran out of time and forgot about them. I'll either get some hooks welded on locally, or worst case - I can wrap the chains around the lower portion of the bumper (through the openings on either side of the receiver). Not going to need to tow anything for a few months, so I have some time to figure that out.

What is being done for license plate illumination? Personally, I think it would be a good time to copy Shrock and put a tab that holds one of the factory license plate lights.

That is something that is required in this communist state. I actually had a guy try to fail me on my state inspection because my license plate lights were "blue" and they have to be white. I had to explain to him that they were white, they were just a shade of white that you are not used to seeing.
