    Cholula Build - Log

Alignment set'ish... After some welding, I was able to tack the bumper to 3/8" flat bars connected to chassis horns... Top loops need to be cut down about 6", but so far so good... I was also able to tack the winch base to tow points and bases in bumper.... Slowly but sure! This love for...

Also, for those of you who might want to build a winch plate with a stock bumper, the jeep yj-tj winch plate might be a ticket... And is only 45$. Here is how it looks on the frame horns. That was going to be my route, but the cheap bumper changed my plans.

I have yet to replace the tires, but I snagged a 3/16" steel bumper for a 100$. It needs cut and resizing, along with repurposing plate material to build a winch plate, but for the price I couldn't even get the materials alone. The end result is expected to look like a DIY version of the ARB...

2" lift done! Starte to use rust inhibitor (Ospho) on frame, body and parts that were showing rust issues. Picking up a set of 31's to replace old BF' s... I'm thinking about just starting the bumper build, but we'll see... I also noticed some moisture below the carpet, so I'm going to remove...

Thanks! It might, but I am not 100% sure. It is made of ABS plastic, which could be softened with a heat gun and brought to shape when needed. In fact it took me very little time to re shape the neck of the snorkel by just blowing hot air through the head of the snorkel. Ebay has them for 53...

    Polyurethane Vs. Polypropylene Lift Pucks

Thanks a lot, Rob! I have also enjoyed your videos on YouTube, well done and very instructive. I just made an order on Allensfasterners, they did not have the M12 160mm bolts, but I will try to source those locally. Their prices are WAY better than McMasterCarr.

    Polyurethane Vs. Polypropylene Lift Pucks

Got it, thanks for the feedback. Pucks in the Zone are available and cheap, but bolts on all hardware and McMaster are either unavailable or way too pricey. Did you guys sourced hardware locally? There is a guy off ebay selling kits for around 110$ shipped with all hardware for pucks and safety...

    Polyurethane Vs. Polypropylene Lift Pucks

I'm in the the hunt for a decently priced basic BL kit. Before I buy one, I wanted to sound your perspectives regarding these two materials for BL's. Any experience with either one? I see most of them as polyprop kits, and nisstec has a polyu option. Any feedback is appreciated.

How To: Under Hood Lights Done Easy (and cheap)

Sorry to hear that. I went through the same with a small boat I poured my heart and guts in the rebuild and had to sell it. It's like it has been drawn from the Earth's surface... If you have the vin and 30$ to spare you can at least carfax it... Just to kill your curiosity...

How To: Under Hood Lights Done Easy (and cheap)

Awesome Mod. Now that you put a few years into the lighting mod, how was the durability of those LED's? Are they still shining or have you gone through a few sets?

Yes, that is the goal! There is tons of space down there, and even without redoing the bumper there is quite a bit of space for at least 10 more gallons of fuel. Anybody who have done something similar?

All right, here we go. First post, too much to update, but I will keep it brief. Snagged a 2000, 5 sp, 4x4 KV-8 gray Xterra out of Chicago, with around 216k mi on the ODO. Put Some 200 miles on our way back home and this is how she sits... Right off the bat: Motor, Diff's and Transfer...

Hi guys! Just wanted to drop a line and introduce myself. Just got a 2000 x, 5 speed 4x4 in decent shape for the midwest. The x is well used, but unmolested, so I'm taking care of that ;-). In the past few days of pandemia I've done the pml, diff and transfer fluid changes and soon will get to...
