After further testing, it seems the fan clutch was a contributor but not the main cause. As soon as I got on the highway the temp gauge jumped up. Oh well.

I replaced the fan clutch this morning as suggested in the dumb question thread. Took her for an aggressive spin with the AC on full blast for about 20 minutes. Temperature gauge never budged and a mystery engine noise disappeared... I'll be taking her on the highway later when it's 100 degrees...

It's a both thing. I ordered the fan clutch off Z1.

That was my line of thinking. I'm just short on cash and running through parts when I'm not 100% sure is stressful

On another note, hopefully it doesn't turn out to be the water pump...it's ~50k miles in since I replaced it when I wrecked the truck in 2018.

That's actually the first place I thought of for it. I'm gonna win that new Z :cool:
