Okay, it's my high beam that stays on... Wtf. This is from the service manual. it describes what I'm experiencing, but doesn't provide a solution.

Okay E54 was a pretty bad ground, replaced the bolt, much better connection, checked with my multimeter. The light still stays on

So my driver side headlight would sporadically stop working, until it finally shiat the bed. every now and then it comes back. I swapped bulbs, it wasn't the bulbs. In the combination switch fog lights, turn signal and high beams all work properly. My guess is its a loose connection somewhere...

Coolant leak? 6 is where my head gasket failed.

hey Ellis, what exacty has happened and what did you do. what did you disconnect/reattach/replace.

im embarassed but, here goes. bad spark plug. but i swapped spark plugs, right? i must have put #4 back into 4 and not into 1. shop made sure, they did not want to call me back with just that. but im just glad its over. I spent too many hours looking at this project.

any other suggestions before i take this in to a shop?

almost certainly not in the head. was rebuilt by a local shop that does race engines. new seals, machined everything. plugs new wires new. rotor cap and distro were all swapped, no difference. returned the complete assembly. felt like it ran a little better, so im just gonna throw new cap and...

nope. I def would've noticed that. and oil level is exactly where i filled it.

Been good for almost a week. P0304 came back literally at the end of a 400km road trip, a few blocks from my house. Replacing the cap and rotor now, because they're cheap. Gonna rack my brain on this one. I'm running out of things to check now

even though IACV seemed fine on paper, and the code went away. I had to replace it to fix my rough idle that persisted...

misfire code never showed up again after friday night. very noticeably rough idle remained. I swapped cap, no diff, rotor, no diff, full distributor, no difference. replaced the Idle Air Control Valve, just in case it was bad, even though i had tested it. problem solved.

I'm going to try swapping the plugs around too, just in case I got a bad one. but faulty new parts seems least likely. a buddy of mine that works on bikes thinks its the condenser on the distributor thats gone bad, just cause they can go bad without warning and give spark issues. but its...
