TGPWS 7: New Year. See if we can wash the stink off.

Did you already do this? 2GL fits nicely in the wet box. Or on the roof. The back hatch gets dusty af, that alone would dissuade me from mounting fuel there. Then again I live in a desert so YMMV.

    Internet Deals!

Pretty good price on a flex head ratcheting wrench set... $35 I just picked one of these sets up from a local store and the quality seems good, plus it includes 19mm which I didn't have before in this style of tool. This set has 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19mm sizes, so it's pretty useful for...

    outside Temperature by any chance?

My '09 has a Gentex Model 50-GENK50 mirror with compass and outside temp. It was installed by the previous owner and was a popular mod back in the day... not sure how available these still are or if there's a newer alternative but I really like mine.

OME (Old Man Emu) leaf spring bushings questions

New bushings in, torqued and test drove and all feels great. Will retorque ubolts after a couple hundred miles. For reference I only had to undo the front leaf mount and ubolts. Left the shock and rear shackle bolts in, didn’t need to drop the spare. Thanks @jsexton for the recommendation.

OME (Old Man Emu) leaf spring bushings questions

Old Man Emu is looking pretty old. It looks like the Nolathane ones will work nicely. Same ID for the bolt. The sleeve is thicker metal so hopefully the ride isn’t harsher from having less compliant material in between the bolt and the eye.

OME (Old Man Emu) leaf spring bushings questions

Got the Nolathane bushing kit in, it looks different from the stock photo on amazon but as long as it works that’s fine. @jsexton does this look correct to you?

OME (Old Man Emu) leaf spring bushings questions

Thanks very much. I edited my post to make it more clear that the video doesn't show my Xterra, sorry about the confusion. I actually took some video last night while driving around a bit, and I guess the good news is that in semi-normal driving the leafs don't appear to shift around...

OME (Old Man Emu) leaf spring bushings questions

It looks like Nolothane is exactly the same as Whiteline, two different brands of the same product made by Redranger. These Nolothanes are available sooner... can you confirm this should fit the Old Man Emu leaf eyes? I may just get these and only do the front mount bushings and the plastic...

OME (Old Man Emu) leaf spring bushings questions

Thanks Crabby. It's not my truck and not my video, just one I found that showed the shifting really clearly and may be similar to what happening to mine. Looking at notes from the previous owner of my '09, I realized last night that the suspension is 9 years old and has about 55K miles on it...

OME (Old Man Emu) leaf spring bushings questions

Thanks for the reply. I’ll check those out. Honestly I haven’t had any issues with OME stuff before this. And it seems like the leaf pack clip is what’s too loose and allowing it to move laterally. Are these the whitelines? https://whitelineperformance.com/products/w73250-bushing-kit...

OME (Old Man Emu) leaf spring bushings questions

Hey guys, I have some leaf spring bushing questions. We have OME setups on both our '06 and '09 Xterras. No problems with the '06, but this weekend I noticed an issue with the '09. Airing up while returning from camping I saw the forward leaf spring mount was spitting out a bushing...

    White Spoke Wheels

I don’t know about bead lock laws but BRAID makes plenty of wheels without them. That was just an example on an Xterra. They’ll custom make you whatever you’re willing to pay for.

    Tool advice request

Looks fine as impact driver, too weak as an impact wrench IMO. Only 150 ft lbs if Im reading the specs right.

    Internet Deals!

https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DWMT81534-205Pc-Mechanics-Tool/dp/B0767NGBP8 I don't have this tool set, and most likely anyone on this forum already has these basic tools but it looked like a pretty decent set for the money. Six point sockets, not a lot of useless filler items. ETA looks like...

    Ffxcores Build Thread

I assume you have to drop the skid to change the oil then? At least it sounds like it's not too difficult to remove it.

    Ffxcores Build Thread

The three round holes on the vertical portion? Yes, mine has those. Also, mine are protected by a layer of iron oxide. And I'm missing the cover for the oil filter access hole. Mine came with the '06 Xterra which we bought in '14, and the skid looked like it had been around a while then. So...

    Ffxcores Build Thread

It is a huge PITA, agreed. I may have mentioned this before but I resorted to hacking the slots larger to make it slightly less of a pain. Still sucks, just less. Fortunately it's not something that needs to be removed much. It must not be very recent because I have the same Shrock radiator...

    The Dumb Question Thread

@1L19 I know this was a few questions ago, but you asked about tents. We own at least six tents, from a sub 3# ultralight one to a 60# Kodiak 9' x 8' and I like all of them for various scenarios, but if it's just a solo trip (or you have a small dog with you) then sleeping inside the Xterra is...

    The Dumb Question Thread

Not generally, no, although I have a time or two hauled them short term in the Xterras and Subaru wagons.
