They are proud of those. Doesn’t surprise me. Caterpillar doesn’t even bother making their own sensors anymore. They don’t even bother rebranding them. They just stuff them in a yellow box labeled CAT and jack up the price 400%.

Fedex took as much time as possible but the new sensors are finally here!

How many miles were you at for the sensor? I preemptively bought them but haven’t installed them since I’m only at 83k. I planned to do them about 95k but I always wonder if I should just do them now and keep the originals as a backup for me or somebody else.

edit: I see 196k. I apparently wasn’t on the last page

Looks like my cam sensor failed about 170k. I did all three at that time.

Replaced the crankshaft sensor last year while on a lift one day but havn't replaced the cam sensor's yet but they are sitting in the offroad gear box . Should do it sitting in front of the house with a cold engine verse's on the trail ; but that would make sense

That's what I would recommend, at least then you can say for a fact you have a functional backup for them.

I got the new sensor installed last night. If anyone else needs advice on the job, don't be like me and try to do it without an extension. I fought with trying to get the socket on it for 30 minutes before finally going back inside to find one. It's a pretty easy job overall, I only needed to remove the fender liner and turn the wheels to the left to get access.

I'm almost ready to paint, it's taking forever to remove what seems like a hundred bad paint jobs and a bunch of bedliner but I bought some rust/paint dissolver that's helping speed everything up a bit.

I got my WKO sliders powder coated but I wish now I had saved that money and just painted them with Rustoleum. That's what I've been touching them up with as I knock the powder coat off them.

I think that's what happened here, I didn't notice it at first but now that the layers are coming off it seems like the bedliner trapped water underneath and caused some rusting.

not really, I moved after graduating college and gotten into mountain biking! lol a lot cheaper and less risky to build up the bike haha

I got away from X mods for a while too until recently. I found a few good deals on seat covers and sliders so I'm back into it. I also had to replace all of the cig lighter ports, no idea what happened but somewhere along the way I think I burned a wire or something, I got a new set and hardwired it straight to the blue sea fuse box.

I tried a different hobby for a bit but that hasn't turned out to be any cheaper haha, this RC car project has been fun but man I've replaced/upgraded pretty much everything. Probably my fault since I bought a rock crawler kit that had a top speed of 7mph stock, last time I clocked it it's hitting 80mph now haha. I had to upgrade the front axle to a solid aluminum one after a crash split the stock one in half. I'm currently waiting on a replacement motor because I also managed to snap the output shaft in two.

We finally moved out of the condo to a house last week so there are too many projects getting the way of me finally having a driveway to do mods in but I went ahead and ordered an amp to finish off my sound system in the X. I've been slowly preparing the wiring in-between painting walls and unpacking boxes but hopefully I'll be able to install it soon and then move on to the sliders.

I finally got around to painting and installing the Heftyfab sliders I picked up a month ago.

I ended up going with the same black Mar-Hyde paint I used on the wheels a couple years ago since it's held up so well. The install went mostly ok except for finding out mid install that some of the bolts the seller gave me didn't fit anything. Thankfully I've kept a ton of spare bolts for the X so I found some quickly and finished the install up.

It's been a while since I posted any updates so I figured I'm about due for it. Recently I've been having an issue with the truck not starting on the first key turn. I decided to go through all of my wiring just to be safe and found a few issues, mainly just with old wiring that's deteriorated a bit so I've been replacing everything and adding better grounds in certain places.

I need to touch up my bumper after backing into my girlfriends car accidentally, the X only has a scratch but I got to replace her bumper and taillight after the hit haha.

Sadly none of this has helped with the starting issue so I ordered a new starter today, I'm going camping soonish and don't want to be worried about a no-start situation if I can help it.

Other than that the truck still runs strong and I'm slowly closing in on 200k!

Does it crank over and not start or is it a no crank issue?

It's a zero crank issue. Turn the key and nothing happens, try a few times and it starts no problem. Voltage is good across everything so I assuming it's the starter going bad. Swapped relays and no difference.
Have you ever changed your IPDM? The next time it happens, I would have someone try to crank it and verify the relay is engaging but the starter still isn't.

You might wiggle your shifter too. Could be the neutral safety switch.
