I work in a field where we've been wearing masks 8-10hr shifts for the last 5yrs and people originally started wearing it below the nose cause "I can't breathe". I work in the cannabis industry so I'm frequently around the lazy, hippie type, just here for the check, crowd and everyone now wears a mask correctly, full time. No issues. I think it's a mental thing. I wear them outside of work the few places I go not only because of the requirements but because I don't want to deal with anyone whining..
My work considers masks a safety Hazzard because they cause ou safety glasses to fog up so at work we have not wore masks at all. I'm glad ou have not had any issues wearing a mask but with 20+ years of breathing in dust from all types of material and the mist from all types of cutting fluids and oils that shiat. If you would see some of the filters on some of the filtration units that we use you could only imagine what our lungs look like. There are days where the mist clouds are so thick that you would sware something was on fire and that is with two exhaust fans running. Needless to say you don't see many 80 - 90 year olds running around that have worked in my field. They have tested the air and cutting fluids and have found led and numerous amounts of different carcinogens, so pardon me if I get sinus infections when I wear a mask. I'm not trying to be and ass but I effects everyone differently.
This is a filter where air gets sucked it the machine to keep the computer cool, gets changed biweekly.

It's hard to argue it but both my in-laws have covid right now and they both wear masks religiously. I find it hard to believe that masks do little other than make people feel better about themselves. I quit wearing a mask about 4-5 months ago because I was getting constant sinus infections rebreathing the air I breath out. It's not always a matter of can't be bothered for me i was tired of living in misery all the time.

The CDC has stated continuously that the mask is not to protect the wearer, but to help prevent the wearer from spreading the virus in the water droplets expelled during breathing and coughing.

A proper mask (not a single layer gaiter) worn properly will catch the water droplets when you exhale. This helps limit the virus finding its way onto other surfaces where it can be picked up. But washing the masks regularly, washing hands regularly and using hand sanitizer all help prevent the spread.

Let's look at it a different way. Condoms don't keep dudes from getting pregnant, right? Same deal with a mask.

I wear a mask. I don't like it, but I do it because I care about containing the spread till we have a workable solution in place. I'm just as pissed off by all this crap as anyone but I know healthy people who have spent weeks on ventilators and have co-workers who's parents have been put right on deaths door by this thing. I don't want to chance being the reason someone's kid or elderly parent gets deathly sick or flat out dies.

I wear one for the same reasons. I wasnt convinced of it, wore my mask "mostly", but have always been an avid hand washer. I still ended up testing positive, and had to be quarantined, so I know what it felt like. It was exhausting and frustrating. But im pretty healthy with a strong cardiovascular system. I dont want to be the reason someone else with breathing issues like my mom or my nephew with asthma gets it. So I wear one. Even though I see people without one look at me like Im a sheep.

Waiting on someone to say something to me about being stupid for wearing it. Will be real interesting for them.

Thinking about getting either the Uniden UMX769

or the Midland 75-822

CB radio for my Silverado. These 2 units are small and storable. Just not sure on what one to get. Also planning on adding a small Ian antenna to the a pillar light mount or to the headache rack once it’s installed. Any recommendations

Check with folks in your area. Most groups are going to GMRS and Midland makes some nice micro mobile units for that service as well. I can't remember how they do it in Canuckistan though, I think there's some cross over with US freqs....

Hey Terry , what's your opinion on the midland mxt115 radio kit at $ 199 [ amazon ] ? Good enough for someone like me for offroading from time to time ?? Thanx Eddie"""""""""""""

But to answer your question, yes. It'll be a good setup. Truck to truck will be great. It'll cover a little distance. And it's easy to use.

The license is $70 and covers your entire household for 10 years.

The MXT275 is the same power, range, etc and the same price but all the controls are in the handheld part instead of on the base unit. That lets you hide the unit away (mine is tucked in the center console) and makes it easier to fiddle with. At least three of us from the last group we went with run the same thing.

I just did a super clean install with mine. Base unit under drivers seat. Cat6 bulkhead where the aux port is on dash. I'm really impressed with this little radio

Oh and ditched the crappy antenna that came with it in favor of a Laird B4505CS with a thru mount. Range is significantly better.

So tell me about this license thing ?? What it's for ? and what dose it cover ??

Did the 6 million dollar man drive an XTERRA ? It'd explain why he was only worth 2.5 later in life !!:eek::p

For the CB get the Uniden. That Midland is not that great. I've got one as a second. As Terry said many folks are moving GMRS.

You have to be licensed to use more power than the cheap FRS handheld radios output (1/2 W on 1-14 and 2W 14-22 IIRC. Maybe 2W across the board now). There's no test, just the fee. It let's you use up to 50W and do base installation and use repeaters for added range.

There's a writeup on OB for the ZA license (USA) that I'll look for.
