Morning. Gonna be on breaker maintenance today. Pulling and cleaning some 440V and 2300V breakers in an old control room. Not excited about this at all.

Need to start trimming out my radio room too.

@DoomX: Antelope. Hmm. Cute like bambi. That has to be a controversial hunt in some quarters.

I imagine that hunting Antelope in the open terrain can be rather difficult. Scoped rifle play?

Gotta ask because I have never eaten one: What do antelope taste like? Does it depend on what they have been eating?

I don't see how it's controversial. Wyoming has more pronghorns than people I think. It's probably the easiest tag to draw here. 10/5-10/31, any antelope, 11/1-12/31 doe or fawn.

They have 8X vision I know. And they are fast when they run. Out on the rolling prairies, they like to hunker down between the hills to stay out of the wind. I think the taste of the meat depends on a few things. What they eat, whether or not they are spooked when you kill them, etc. I've only ever had meatballs and tips from them, was awesome. My boss takes the backstraps, cuts them into medallions, and then grills them with bacon wraps. Nom nom!

This is actually my first big game hunt. I'm excited. They also have a keen sense of smell, and stalking them can be fun. Here's a big boy I saw a couple of weeks ago when I was out scouting. At 100 yards he just stood there watching us. I'm hunting with a 1938 Turkish Mauser, rebarreled for 6.5x55 Swede, and with a 4-16 x 40 scope. I think a good optic and a caliber able to reach out there is a must. I've re-stocked my Mauser action, bedded it, etc. It's very accurate for such an old gun.

I might be projecting given the fact that I live in British Columbia and despite the wild areas and bountiful game, bambi lovers are common and noisy. I am a fan of hunting deer in urban areas; you can imagine how poorly that goes over. Many would rather spend millions relocating the animals in order to watch sometimes over 50% of them die. The one thing we have in BC are good numbers of experienced, competent, safe hunters.

Sounds delicious. And sounds like a lot of fun. Keep us posted as to how the hunts turn out.

doe or fawn

If it were a doe that was solo, no controversy. But I can definitely see how shooting a doe that's with a fawn could be controversial, and even vice-versa. I know for some animals it's illegal to kill a mother if with their young, and I just assumed that was universal to all animals.

I just posted what the regs say, I can't see myself shooting a fawn at all really. I'm jonesing for a buck, and I've got 3 weeks to get one. I would shoot a doe on her own however.

I'm hunting solely on public lands, either state run or by Bureau of Land Management, or US Forest Service. These areas are also open to anyone camping, hiking, fishing, etc, so there is that.....however, I have never seen nor heard of hunters being harassed around here, it's a big thing locally. I spend a lot of my free time out there in the boonies too..It's not the kind of thing that files well here. I hope that answers your question...

I'll let you know if I get something.

Tales 15 years to get a Speed goat tag.. When you do.. its golden ticket.. last Speed goat buddy shot, he put on 7 miles a day hiking. dropped his 350 yards. Never flopped or flinched. D.O.A. Was tasty meat. Ate others, I did not have enough ketchup to drown the nasty flavor..

Good luck in your hunt.. Wyoming is the New state for hunters.. expect to see lots of tourist (Hunters)! haha

Thanks! Hunting is a big piece of WY economy. People come here from all over to hunt. Out of state hunters must hire a guide or outfitter. I bet that gets spendy real fast too.

Pretty sure it is the server, not you. Probably on a shared hosting plan with some other site that randomly loads things up, slowing down everything else, a lot of the server providers like to put way too many sites on a single server because it is cheaper for them.

On the upside, it is cheaper for xn as well, so helps keep it community-owned rather than having to resort to plastering ads all over the place, or pulling a TNX and killing off the community.

Got some trim done. The window trim is a few hours out from a second coat of stain. I think it's going to take at least three coats to get the tone I want.

I'll be putting the first coat on the door trim when I do the second coat on the window trim.

Man I'm looking forward to getting this done but this is not my favorite thing...

I got another disappointing order of chicken wings. When you order the hottest wings on the menu and its labeled "flaming hot" and you don't break a sweat eating them someone needs to reevaluate their definition of flaming hot.
