Photo Size, Choices And Webpage Loading

Some of the picture intensive threads can take a long time to load and sometimes require re-loading.

I have a reasonably fast PC-workstation with 8 GB of RAM, Windoze 10 up to date, SSD drives, 120 Mbps download speeds, behind a VPN but download speeds are still near 100 Mbps.

I usually reduce the size of the photo files by 80% but even that seems to take a while to load if I post the full photo (that is 20% the size of the original).

Should we only post thumbnail photos in order for the webpages to load smoothly?

Yeah I'm with you on that one. And if you click the full size on a phone you can either see the thumbnail or the small section of the full image - there's no in-between. That's why I always insert the full size image, because that's the only way for anyone to see the image sized to the phone screen. But like you point out, that's a ton of data.

Prime?

Threads I was subscribed to or looking at take too long to load. So I react by unsubscribing and not looking. Now if I am the only one that does that -- no issue. If not.

Most of us are big boys and girls and we do understand 'resource constraints'. The cheapest solution is likely a change in poster behaviour. What do you recommend?

whenever i post a photo, i use the "huge thumbnail" size on imgur so it loads quick.

I only upload to the site. I got tired of using hosting sites and don't have a build for it anywhere but here anyways.

Prime added an upload resizer to the forum, not sure what the new size is once its loaded though.
