Old Jeep Patriot died on me and I thought Xterras looked cool so I decided to replace it with an old 2004 Gen 1, I had no idea there was this world for them and I'm hooked. I can't wait to get working on this thing!

Any and all recommendations and tips are welcome!

Welcome aboard !! Sorry I don't know much about gen 1's as I have a 2nd gen but plenty of thread's here in the Gen 1 category. Recall's/maintenance could be a good start when reading ;)

Welcome. First off, unless you have a short spousal unit, ditch the factory steps as all they'll do is destroy your doors. Also ditch the rear sway bar. Doesn't do much of anything and I've seen people destroy their right rear shock with some odd articulation. Next, figure out what you want to do that it doesn't and start there. PML is a good cheap start, many wind up going with a 3" suspension lift after that. 2" body lift isn't too bad, just finding the right bolts. But mostly, get her dirty and see what she needs.

Welcome! What Muadeeb says is correct. I've been down some pretty gnarly tracks with my 03, and I still haven't done the PML. These rigs are GREAT off roaders, and will pretty much get you anywhere you wanna go, even stock. Drive it for a bit, keep her maintained, and modify as required.
