For those of you that have made your own or bought them, what frame holes did you use? I have stared at the frame for too long maybe, but it seems the only hole that goes completely through is the larger ovalish ones. But you gotta be using more than two bolts per side. Have tried looking at mass produced models that say "no drilling" just can't quite get a good enough look a the mounting surface. (Probably by design) Soooo, I'm shoutin out to the masses for a solid Help here. Thanks guys and girls!!

First set I made and used the typical holes everyone else uses. Under the cross member toward the front and right in front of the spring hanger at the back.

wore those out and bought white knuckles. I welded those on. Welding them on is 100% the way too go. Much more solid.

For bolt-on, some good photos here. Note that like the guy who posted this how-to, I couldn't use the bolt by the gas tank because there's just not enough clearance and I was worried the nut could rub on the tank:

I have a set of these, and they feel solid, but I haven't used them as rock sliders so much as steps. I do use them to lift the side of the truck with a forklift when doing tire rotations, and they have worked fine for that, but that's spreading the weight over a wider area rather than a single point like a rock or log. I'm sure welded would be even stronger.
