Secret Rear Floor Hook Thing

Did anyone else know about this secret hook under the rear floor? I was measuring for a tool drawer and found it yesterday. Not that I would ever really need it, but I felt like Sherlock Holmes

I wish mine had that hook... and the engine cover. Wish I had the hook more. By 2015 Nissan must have ran out of them and wasn’t going to put either one on newly manufactured Xterras.

Did yea find the second glove box?. ( it's been known to be elusive with many X owners ).

Nice hiding spot, center console under the Cup holders. Can pop it up with using a Dime. Nice area to hide your Man Purse, Pistol, Cash, Etc.

They are not as useful as you think. I found one and was going to put it on until I figured out how much of a PITA it was.

The hook on the cover is so you can attach it to the roof to hold the cover up. Not overly useful, but kinda handy if you are taking a bunch of things in and out (I store a tool chest under there and sometimes use the hook so I don't have to pull the tools out, I can just flip the case open and grab the sockets/etc I need).

My '06 had one of those hooks, but my '12 doesn't. I wish it did have it, or that I could find one because I used that all the time. And also the engine cover. My engine looks like it's missing something and that bothers me.

I use it if I'm getting something out from under there quickly but if I really need that thing open I run a bunjee cord under it and hook the ends on the ceiling. Don't the later X's also not have the low washer fluid light too?

I've got both but I can't remember when the last time I had that open was. I've pretty much stopped keeping things in there other than my jumper cables. I keep two totes in the back most of the time with tools and spare parts in them so I'd have to remove those two to get the cover open. And when I'm out wheeling or camping, the back is so full of gear that I'd hate to have to completely empty the back to get at something important.

I'm wanting a drawer set as well and the cover will be going away. I'm hoping to build in access to the cubby from behind the back seats and swap my full Raingler barrier for a 1/2 one.

I put one on from a junkyard and use it from time to time. I don't think it would take much time to design a copy for a 3D printer, but then you'd have to monkey with the cord and screw too. Much easier to just use a bungee cord.

They must have removed some wierd circuit. Because the cluster is the same in the Pathy and the X. The wife's 11 Pathy has a washer fluid light.

They removed the washer fluid indicator because it wasn't being used that often by drivers of Xterras. I mean, clearly these vehicles are not made to go off-road through dirt and mud and such, so washer fluid was rarely being used.

Windshield washer fluid sensor was eliminated because it was causing the reservoirs to leak. I can't remember exactly when that changed but my 07 has a working light.

My '07s got a working washer light and I did find the pen holders I hadn't a clue about under the center console lid although I still haven't remembered to check the rear lid for the bungee.

Hey Chug , how ya doin' . I see where you mean to pry it up but I'm worried I might break the snaps/what ever it is that holds it down. Can it be used that way or for just occasional use?? Also wouldn't it be glovebox # 4 ? 2 in front dash 1 in center console, then this one or did I miss somthing ? I have been known to indulge in adult beverage's and lose count. LLOOLL. I did locate hook thingy in back and pen holder on underside of lid. thanx Eddie""""

I would use it in a pinch.. But not on a daily basis.. Due to being plastic.. Brakes easy. Bad part of the Interior of the X. everything is plastic, as it ages gets more brittle. Worse when cold.

Many owners has no clue a second glove box was part of the dash..

Thanx Chug !! I wouldn't have known about the upper glove box in the front dash if I hadn't left my door's unlocked one night and the neighborhood teenage pieces of feces decided to relieve the X of all that nasty change and a few singles laying around the glove box; also a flashlight, pocket knife not sure what else.Sure glad they didn't know what else they had their hands on but didn't take !!
