Back in a Nissan

Long story short, had a built 2017 Tacoma that I was increasing unhappy with. Started looking at a new car for the wife. Traded the Tacoma in for a 2019 Subaru Outback 3.6r Limited, sold the wife's old car to Carvana and then we were a one vehicle household.

Started browsing car guru and craigslist for sub $10k 4runners, Grand Cherokee's and Xterras and wasn't having much luck. A couple weeks go by and I come upon a new listing for a 2011 Xterra, 159k miles on it, one owner, clean carfax, asking $6000. Call them up, take it for a test drive, yeah it needs some maintenance items taken care of but it's solid. I offer them $5500 cash and drive it home.

This is our second Xterra, and fifth Nissan, 1994 Harbody SE-V6, 2007 350z, 2008 Titan, 2011 Frontier.

2017 Tacoma I traded in on the wife's Outback.

A few other things such as floormats, new rear hatch struts, Gorilla offroad hood struts,a bunch of LED's inside and out have been done. New fluids all around as well.

Immediate future: steering rack needs replaced, new one should be here tomorrow from Detroit Axle.

Future plans:

Hefty Fabworks rear swingout bumper
ARB front bumper with winch
Research brake upgrade (brake booster upgrade)
Go through entire suspension and make necessary upgrades for the additional weight/wear items that need replaced.
Headlight retrofit

nice start, i like the rocker switch panel. what is the tracer item in the last picture?

It's the control box for the Trigger 2100. https://www.quadratec.com/p/trigger...relay-switching-system-07-17-jeep-wrangler-jk
Welcome! Just out of curiosity what didn't you like about the Tacoma?

The 3.5l had no torque combined with high transmission/diff gears made for a drive-train that always seemed stressed and changing gears. Especially up here at 6000'+ elevation. My other major complaint was the seating position, you sit very low to the floor and the bottom cushion had zero support.

Found some pics of the old (Nissan) rides.

Did a SAS swap on the 94 HB, 5.13 gears and detriots front and rear. Shortly after the swap I toasted the trans in a high=water crossing and eventually parted it out. Bed was bobbed 18" and it had 35" Goodyear MTR's.

Loved the Z but soon after getting it I fell hard for the 2 wheel life and ended up trading it in on a Titan.

08 Titan next to the wife's 03 Xterra. This was when gas was around $4/gal, I routinely hit the $75 fuel cut off at the gas station.

Nice to see the Nissan 'family tree' and that HB! Welcome back. Have you considered the Hefty alum front bumper, since you're close to Chris anyway? I've had mine and winched with it no issues. I like to stay with softest springs possible up front for a bit more flex, and this bumper with a Warn winch, Radflos, and 600lb springs work great so far, no clumsy handling even with swaybar-delete.

Btw, I'm also keeping my RB-swapped 240Z :)
