I have been on blood pressure meds since I was 27, heart issues run in my family, and I need to do something about it. I had started going to the gym a few years ago, lost a bunch of weight, was feeling good and then my mom died and traveling back and forth, dealing with Dad, wife started school, and I just quit going. Back where I was now...

That sucks man. Sorry to hear that.

I'd rather remove my own eyes with a mellon baller than run.
I was never a runner and thought it was stupid. Then I finally started running to support my wife with her doing it. And dammit, I actually ended up enjoying it. I got myself up to a 1 hour 10km run and would feel great at the end. I didnt run last year or this year and now i miss it.

I ran high school cross country. Fastest 5k was sub 20min.
I don’t run anymore. I lift things up and put them down. For cardio I do a row machine warm up for 2000m and try to keep it under 8mins.

Now I like to hike when I can

Same.

I needed to be more active for my health and took up mountain biking. Requires being athletic and exercise, but is easier on your joints and more fun. It's also way cooler than being a runner or roadie. (I joke, but seriously MTB's are badarse.) Once I started the bug bit me hard like 4x4's, now I have a full suspension All-mountain bike, and still camp out of my 4x4 except I sometimes go places with MTB trails instead of off road trails. Started out dying after a few miles, at my best I'm able to do 10-12.

And keeping with the thread, I also like PC gaming, and so far have resisted the urge to build a gaming PC that can run games made in the past decade because that would counteract the point of trying to be more active. Maybe this winter I'll cave in...or not, I don't need to spend more time in front of a screen despite wanting to.

See, thats the advantage of living up here. In the winter when it is too cold to be outside biking etc, I use the gaming computer to heat the house. Summer is full of hiking and biking.

I never could do the gaming thing. I'm too much of a tinkerer. I spend a lot of time in the garage working on things. I've recently gotten hooked on old Coleman lanterns and stoves and have been fixing them up a little as I find them.

Some of my latest finds:

L-R 1989 286, 1941 242B, 1942 220C

And a late 50s KampLite I found. Still has the original Pyrex globe!!

Stuff like that does catch my eye, although I collect too much junk as it is so I've avoided actually purchasing a lot of it. I seen this the other day you would like, not worth a crap but rare to see:

Could probably get that running easily! Looks like the tank and genny are intact. What were they asking?

Those are cool. I have a couple stoves and lanterns. I have no idea what models they are though.

Oh nice! I have thing for vintage coleman coolers, and I have several stoves. One I "restored" but painted brown to match my bus, and the brown vintage coleman lamp I have. Nice!

I love to tinker. I have a big ass commercial pop corn machine and a gumball machine im tinkering on now.

I've been looking for a 275 brown lantern (aka turd) but haven't found one yet. Also want to kerosene convert a spare 220K I have just for novelty (and to justify having two Ks!)

Oh sweet! Ill have to post a pic of my brown 275 when I get home. It doesnt have the box or hard plastic case. Too bad you arent local, I'd sell it to you. I bought it more as an impulse buy than anything else.

They're good runners. Pretty much just a dressed up 220. The tapered globe is the kicker though. Supposedly you can put up to 10% citronella oil in the fuel to ward off bugs but I have not tested that yet. Need to find citronella...

I love geocaching! A great excuse for exploring off road and getting to the "high up, hard to get to without hiking for heaven knows how long" caches.
..and I'm interested in learning more about this stuff ^^

Aah, geocaching. I haven't had a chance to do that in a couple years (got married, wife had major hip surgery for a birth issue that finally caught up with her), hopefully I can get back at it soon. Was always fun to do out in the bush, discovered a lot of neat little places off the beaten path that way,.

Yep, that's why I like it. The upcoming trip isn't only to see the scenery, but to find some caches along the backroads we'll be on.

Kids and work take up most of my time but I do enjoy just about anything on 2 and 4 wheels. I game on the PC occasionally and like to get out to the shooting range for some firearm therapy. I run and lift but not as much as I use too, 20 years in the Army and a back surgery later. I enjoy good sound, both home and car audio systems, and I've been a hobby car detailer that sometimes does his neighbor cars for the past few years.

I should probably drop some info here since I'm in the gift exchange this year!

• Trail Running. With the mountains close by there are some pretty awesome trails around here.
• Hiking. The much slower version on trail running lol.
• Camping. Like the above two with beer instead of running.
• IT Networking. I really enjoy the building out part of it lot more than the day to day management part of it. It's fun to plan a network out, choose the equipment, and install/configure everything. My home wifi network dominates the neighborhood airwaves lol.
• Astrophotography.
• Electrical stuff? Not sure what to even call this but I like building out harnesses, relay configurations, modding LED bulbs, etc.
• Video games. Don't really have a lot of time for it these days but a good round or two of Battlefield is pretty fun.

Just in case whoever has me this year is struggling to come with ideas a couple good options are an wireless xbox controller (360 or One), or a pair of Superfeet insoles.
