I got the xterra in Nov 2016, needed to replace my MX-5 with something that could have some car seats.

Dec 2016.
First mod was the headlights, stock ones were just not cutting it, I'm somewhat picky about headlights so I retrofitted them with morimoto mini d2s projectors and morimoto HID kit with 4300k bulbs. Almost three years now and still love them and have had zero problems.

Around Christmas time installed some 1.5" wheels spacers that I got as a gift.

May 2017
Installed new front 5100 shocks set at 0.5" to level the truck.
Replaced the steering rack as original one had a ton of play on one side.

Started going exploring and camping with my brother and other people.
Wanted to get some sort of rack for the roof, I had some metal laying around so I decided to build a low profile one, main reason is I wanted to make sure it would still fit in my shop which has a low 7ft high door.

Clamps to the rack with these isolated mounts, they were a bit too large so I added a hard silicone sheet, nice and tight now.

Get a good deal on welding from my girl.

Also installed a CB radio around the same time.

Recently wanted a winch but buying a new bumper and then upgrading suspension was too much.
I had a winch plate and some other material so I gave a go at integrating one into a stock bumper. The goal was to make it as slim as possible. I started with a winch plate, I think it's smittybilt. Mounts to the front and bottom of the frame rail, incorporated 1" recovery points, and a 3/16 front/radiator skid plate. Approach angle is a tiny bit better, I'm just happy it's not worse than stock.
Winch is a smittybilt X2O 10k lbs with synthetic rope.

Installing the winch added around 100lbs to the front and now felt a little too soft with stock springs (~140k miles) with 5100s.

I wanted to upgrade the springs and keep the bilsteins for now.
Springs I used are from gen4 4runner, v8 model. Spring rate from what I found online is 580lb/in, stock xterra is 480 I think. To fit the springs you need a bilstein spring seat for a toyota spring.
Free length of the springs is exactly the same, when installed at the same spring perch they give ~2" of lift, which is way too much, I wanted the same lift but just stiffer springs. To fix this I had to machine some more grooves on the shock itself, pretty simple job if you have a lathe, I added three more grooves and I'm on second from the bottom now.
I also machined down my top spacer from 2" to 1.5" of lift and took out the bump stop on my PRG control arm, this gave me the same height but I gained a bit of up and down travel.
Overall impression is pretty good, it's definitely more stiff and noticeable on the little bumps, but handles big bumps much better without bottom now. The shocks handle these springs ok, they are a bit soft now but for the total cost of $20 to do this I'm ok until I get some proper coilovers. I removed the sway bar as well and it feels really good now, I'm pretty happy.

Time for another update, finished some DIY sliders back in january. Made a kickout style sliders that doubles as a step for my little kiddos, but it's been super nice getting up and down the roof rack, so I'm very happy with how they turned out.
Used 2"x 2" x .120" and 1.75" x .120" tubing.

I love the tires, glad I went with MT's, very nice on the street and great off-road, I'd buy them again.

Sliders was my own design, I just got some square and round tubing and some plate for the mounts

Built myself a new bumper. Pretty happy with the result, fairly compact compared to most available and relatively light.

Did you make some template's so you can make more front bumper's/slider's down the road ?? Down the road mean's I've got to finish my suspension before I buy/add anything else . LOL

No I didn't, these were more of a one off projects for me. I do have most of these designs in CAD, some of it changed during build but it wouldn't take much to update that. Building one is one thing, mass producing is a different ball game. I guess all I really need is to finish that CNC plasma table.
