00-04 mpg

I am getting between 16 to 18.5 mpg. I have a V6 with 5 speed manual and 4X4. I drive fairly easy, as I am not in a rush to go anywhere!
My truck has a PML and original sized tires (for now).
I am easy on the stopping, so not wasting mileage during stops. (you burn fuel to get to mph, but you lose that in hard braking and starting again)
I have found consistant driving is the best method.
My figures are based on many tanks of fuel and not on one trip.

After running multiple tanks of fuel through my truck I found the following:

Ethanol-Enriched fuel - 250 Miles/Tank Highway-only driving - 15.6 MPG
Non-Ethanol fuel - 245 Miles/Tank In Town-only driving - 15.31 MPG

I don't have an average for In-Town driving on Ethanol-Enriched fuel, nor do I have an average for Highway-only driving for Non-Ethanol fuel. So, it's not really an apples to apples comparison but the results speak for themselves, I'm getting better mileage on the Non-Ethanol stuffs. I was also able to find it surprisingly close to my house for $3.10 a gallon, $0.14 more than the cheapest gas around and $0.08 less than Regular Unleaded from Chevron (which is what I ran before Non-Ethanol)!

Nice not much difference just what you prefer. If you have a smart phone my dad showed me this app "gas cubby" you can keep track of lots of stuff on it: Gas, mpg, services like oil changes and other fluids, it has will make charts and stuff I think, oh and its free. My last fill up I got 14.6mpg town driving.

Now that I'm back in school my mpg will go down because I accelerate quickly driving to get to school on time cause I sleep in forever.

Also there is another app "gas buddy" not cubby that will show the lowest prices and locations of gas in your town. If you create a account you can report the price change and what not yourself for other users.

Actually there is a pretty big difference. The Ethanol tanks were 100% Highway driving from fill-up to fill-up. The Non-Ethanol tanks were 100% in town driving. Same distance traveled on both types of fuel, one in town (stop and go) and one highway (all go, no stop). Your in-town driving is always worse on the MPG's than Highway driving. Hence why I said it's not an apples to apples comparison. Next time I go on a long trip, I will calculate my Highway MPG's with non-ethanol fuel, though I am guessing it to be around 17-18 MPG.

I didn't write it down, but I remember getting somewhere around 200-210 miles/tank In-town with ethanol fuels.

There's also an app on the Android market called TripLog...it will calculate your fuel mileage for you. I use it for work when I have to drive to another office for a meeting, or when I teach. I can hit a button to Begin Trip, then when I get back to my original location, I can End Trip and it will calculate the miles AND the mileage rate...this is also useful for those who itemize on their taxes and writes off their fuel or mileage (because you can't take both).

Yup...Heres what I did. Put $30 in last weekend it got me to about 3/4 full... I drove all this week (156 miles) took me to above 1/4. I filled up til the pump stopped. It used 14.9 gallons...
Take 156 divided by 14.9 and you actually get 10.5
Ridiculous....

Im going to slow it down this next week and a half and see if I get any better milage...or there may be change coming in the future.

Yeah, that sounds fishy. When my X is COMPLETELY empty it takes 17 gallons to fill it all the way back up. On average it's about 16.5 gallons per fill up even though the manual specifically says that we have 19 gallon tanks - which really throws me off. Like I said in another post. I've kept track of everytime I've gotten gas and the mileage since Jan of '10.... so if you guys want some extra help - I can upload pics of the pages and you guy can compare. Most of the Xs life has been stock. But now I have the 31s and PML.

On the nXm trip last year I AVERAGED 12.5. All highway. It pisses me off that the engine tach's three grand around 70ish mph. Btw, that mileage is corrected for speedo error. Now I have a blown exhaust manifold....i.e. a reason to buy headers....so I'm sure its gotten worse. We'll see what happens after the headers and Nismo cat back.

I just did the timing belt, etc. in my '02 and now I'm getting around 18+ with her, 300 or so on a tank. Best since moving to the mountains.

I'm running at about 10 mpg right now. 33x12.5x15s anyone else running 33s know if this mpg is the same as theirs?

I cleaned my MAF and throttle body. Then acquired a timing light. After setting my timing back to 10* advance at idle, I'm getting 15 mpg again.

I was averaging 15mpg with 90% 75mph highway driving before the transmission crapped. I'll hopefully have it back on the road next weekend. Maybe the new passenger side exhaust manifold will help.

My gas mileage is so bad that I now ride a bike to save money.

Just wondering what everyones MPG are at and what type of driving you get this MPG at...
I go throught some subdivisions hittings lots of stops signs and then trying to make it to school on time so im not that easy on the pedal. Then I hit a big open road that is at 55 speed limit. Its about 3 miles in the subdivions and 4 miles on the 55mph road one way to school, 5 days a week. Other than that I do city driving so I hit stop signs and stop lights, then weekend traffic is awful! This past week I have passed 2 people on the way to school because they were going 40 in a 55 so that made my MPg drop some... But here it is ::drumroll please::

11mpg! :concern: Yup...I have calculated it before and got 13mgp...this really pisses me off. I know I did not buy my Xterra for the mpg but still come on they advertise it getting 16/18??

Oh and im only running a pml...this is why im about to lower my front back down and see if it gets better.
I had a v10 f250 that would do better than that

I will say, many years ago I had a little isuzu amigo with a 2.6L 4 cylinder that everyone thought would do great on gas, there was nothing wrong with it but getting 18 mpg out of it was a struggle and rarely happened, usually 15-16

Just to add a different setup. I have a 2003 with 2.4 and 5 speed 2 wheeler. I average 19.5 mpg which I am happy with since I don't do the speed limit much.
