The 5.0 is doable. It'd take a lot of custom fab, but the engine will fit. The VK56 is just too damn big for the 1st gen.

@Edodrian was looking at 5.0 swapping his. But I don't know if it ever got done.

The VK56 is practically bolt in on the 2nd gen since the engine was available in the 4th gen Pathfinder which is the same exact underpinnings as the 2nd gen X.

I’ve been thinking about the potential of a road kill style turbo from a VW tdi to gain some mid rpm power. Just a little bit of boost So as not to fry anything but give the 3.3 a little kick in the ass.

Turbos are silly if you wheel.

However I do spend 97% of my time on road.
Turbo lag sucks but the engine does produce most of its torque below 2500 rpm. Between 2400 and 3000 it is a tired dog. I just wondered if a turbo would help.

On the off road side I was wondering how best to improve the 26.1 to 1 crawl ratio.

For the crawl ratio there is crawler tcase gears from 4x4 parts

and a doubler setup from NW fab
