2 maintenance questions

Hi guys it's certainly been awhile since I was last here.
I have 2 separate questions that I'm hoping one of you fine folks can help me with.
I have a 2006 Off-road X, under 200,000km. SMOD bypass performed at time of purchase 30,000km ago.
Just tonight I had tried to turn the heat on and nothing. No sound, no heat and no AC. How can I fix this, is my first question.
The second since I bought the truck, in cold weather it seems to struggle when i try to start it. Now if it's the battery, the cluster shows the battery indicator at 8-18, I assume that's volts. The needle is in the middle of that.
I should also mention that no warning lights are displayed in the cluster. Do I require a new battery, is my next question.
Thanks so much in advance...

So I found that it is a blower motor resistor failure for my heating and cooling system. Still have to find the issue regarding the starting.

Was going to say just this!
As for the battery, you will want to test both your battery and alternator. If you are still on the OEM alty, then it may be time for a replacement. Bring the truck to the local autoparts store, and they should be able to test both for free.

Or put a multimeter on the battery terminals. Should be 12.xx with the x off, 14.xx with the x running.
Chances are its an older, weakening battery

Well I'm confused.
I thought that the AC/Heating issue would've been solved with a new blower resistor but that seems to be wrong. I hooked it up and nothing. Now the strange thing is I have all the climate controls off, yet I am getting very low heat from my vents. Could it be the motor itself or something else. Appreciate your thoughts and insight into this...

Just a thought.
I know shiat about shiat, learning as I go.
That being said, if i hooked one of those code readers that are used for diagnostics, would that get me the info that I need so that I can solve this issue. Only getting colder need to get this solved. -4°C
Thanks a bunch folks...

When you say "low heat" do you mean low volume of air moving at all, or just friggen cold air blasted at your face? If it's low volume of air, then I'd start looking at the motor itself.

If it's just cold, then remember how the heating system works. It takes engine coolant, passes it through a radiator in the cabin that the blower motor moves air across. If you recently opened up the coolant system, then there might be an air pocket that is preventing the coolant from getting where it needs to go.

Low meaning when I start the truck it starts off cold, then as the truck heats up then i go from low cool to low hot. The air is not being blown at all...
I just ordered a service manual from Haynes.
Right night I don't know where the blower motor is LMAO...

I found the location of the blower motor. I have a voltage meter, I am relatively new to the meter how do I test the motor to know weather i have a dead motor or not. Thanks guys...

Checked fuses, fuses good. Got to the blower motor and found a bug, fan is difficult to turn. Picking up a new blower after work tomorrow.

I had a similar starting issue & it was the fuel pump. If you keep your tank over 1/4 tank ALWAYS then it’ll lag a bit cold then just give up one day.
