Shook down the Titan swap on Saturday. It was rainy, were and Rausch was mostly empty, so Keith and I were able to run a ton of trails. It's really amazing how much better the Titan swap handles. No real issues aside from a torn CV boot on 22 and some minor rubbing on the fender liner. Huge thanks to everyone that helped with the swap!

No pics because we were too busy having fun!

Forgot to mention that I scored a set of 5 steelies of eBay for $225. These will be for 35s, which should be before ecxc19

Took advantage of decent weather today and installed my intake manifold spacer. No pictures because I was laying across the engine most of the time. Install was pretty easy following the included instructions. X seems to have some more pep. May just be me though.

Oh hi. Long time no update. Let's see. What's been done?

I swapped out the MC and booster with Titan units and bled the abs pump. Brakes are 1000000x better now.

Also got my gears. RockAuto ftw!

The Yukon gears are 24 spline. No need for new flanges for me. Also, confirmed with Randy's Worldwide (Yukon tech support) that no spacer is required for OEM locker.

Install kits were ordered from Steeve-o. Hopefully, they show up. All told got 4.10s for right around $945. Not bad.

After ECXC, my power steering started whining. Looked in the reservoir and she was bone dry. Well, crap. It had been raining, Soni didn't notice any puddles of PS fluid anywhere. Closer inspection revealed this:

So, Ben, Jeff B and I got together today to enjoy a nice day in the sun doing, quite possibly, the worst job on an Xterra. What a pain. I really wish there was a realistic upgrade for our steering racks.

All told, it took about 8 hours to swap. I'm not looking forward to doing again.

You'll love the gears. Which tires you looking to get?

How was swapping the MC and booster for the Titan units? Price? With the truck fully loaded I'm looking for ways to stop better. Hawk pads helped, but not much else can be done to fit inside the OEM wheel.

Looking at the Patagonia MTs. Can't beat under $200/tire for 35s.

The swap wasn't terrible for me. @jsexton did the majority of the work while we were at the campground. At night and in the snow too. LOL.
But they're pretty much a direct fit. Some maneuvering required to slip everything together, but nothing crazy.
I bought the MC from a jy for like $40 and the booster from Rockauto for like $100ish.

I did the rack on mine back at the beginning of the year. Loosening the diff made a big difference but I have the R180 still.

I need to pick up a couple spares to have for the future while the prices are still reasonable.

It makes a huge difference with the m205 too

That's good to know. I saw Nisstec has a brake upgrade kit which I assume is just the Titan Booster and MC and they want $529 for it....

Also changing my steering rack bushings was a piece of cake, but I can see having to change the rack would involve a lot more work. All I had to do is pull off the Shrockworks skid and a mounting plate and remove the 3 (or 4 can't remember) bolts to allow the steering rack to move around so I can get at the bushings.

Looks good! I love the steel wheels! I've been wanting to gather up a set for Pepper but haven't gotten serious about it yet.

I've been trying to con some buddies out of their spares since they've all gone to a matching spare with their tire carriers.... :D

Need Bigger Tires
I've got a matching spare as well now, haven't gotten around to putting it on as I don't have a tire carrier bumper yet, and am lazy. That, and shipping the steelie to the US is probably stupidly expensive. But if someone were to show up and give me cash for it, I wouldn't exactly turn them down...

So...
Sheared the splines off a rear axle shaft at B2sr in late September. Luckily a dealer 20 miles away had loaded axles in stock. Ben went and picked up the axle shaft while Keith and I set to disassembly. I recently had gears done, so the axle shaft came right out. After an hour round trip, Ben came back and we popped the shaft in. Took it for a spin and all sounded good. Did a drain and fill in the parking area, oil looked clean. Little flakey, but no chunks of metal. So that's good. Drove home in Sunday. No issues. Popped the cover on Monday. Clean inside, no chunks or grossness. Filled er back up and gtg.

Turns out I wasn't gtg. Wishful thinking, I guess.
Went wheeling at rausch this past weekend, wheeled Friday and most of Saturday. Turned on the rear locker and BOOM goes the carrier and brand new axle shaft.. Was able to get her home in 4wd. Hitched a ride on a flat bed up to Busted Knuckle to open her up. Found the carrier was destroyed. Luckily, Ben had his oem take off locker sitting in his garage and Breslin had an axle shaft. All fixed up now. They said the gear set looked like it was installed yesterday, so that's good.
