Yeah, it's rock-solid after upgrading the fasteners.

I used the same type of mount on my first gen. I started out with the mounting screws that came with it but found that the mount moved a bit when under pressure since the holes are larger than the screws. I replaced them with #14 x 3/4" hex head sheet metal screws which are about 1/4" in diameter.

Yeah, I thought about taking them off but for one thing, I live in Florida where there are few rocks to crawl over. I do go offroad but here the obstacles more involve mud, rutted sandy or muddy hills, logs, sugar sand, etc... Also, I find them useful for loading the rack and if I take them off...

Well, it looks newer, anyway. They call it matte but I'd say it's more of a satin finish. I tend to like a more flat finish on truck trim but I guess this looks a little more like a factory finish and it'll be easier to clean the mud off. After looking at the photo, I think I'm going to paint...

Yeah, I'd say flat black would go with any color. I'm still trying to find time to paint mine but the daily thunderstorms we've been having lately aren't helping.

Yeah I've been touching up the paint here and there but otherwise it's pretty good. Obviously, the exterior trim all needs attention. The interior is good too with a some slight staining on the seats which I can probably reduce and one cigarette burn hole in the passenger front seat, which bugs...
