    Rivian gaining ground

Outside of California and a few major cities, the non-Tesla DC charging infrastructure is too underdeveloped to make long-distance EV driving practical. Go to plugshare.com and set the filter to CCS/SAE only and see what I mean. This shows all public DC fast chargers that aren't Tesla...

do fuel injector cleaners really work?

I used to have a 4.2 V8 Audi engine that occasionally threw cylinder misfire codes. After I used Techron, those codes would go away for a few thousand miles and then reappear. So I think it has some effect, but I don't use it unless I have reason to.

    The Dumb Question Thread

I was able to keep the stock bolts when I installed Firestone airbags on my 2011 (one of the mounting plates is sandwiched between the bump stops and the frame), but when I swapped out the airbags for Timbren bump stops I broke one of the bolts and decided to replace all of them. The stock nuts...

    The Dumb Question Thread

Are you sure you are using the clips correctly? Each clip is designed to separate into two pieces - one piece that stays attached to the trim and the other piece that stays attached to the body. In my experience, they rarely separate when you pull the panel off. Either the entire clip stays...

    So This Happened Yesterday.

Take a white paper towel and soak some of it up. As the fluid spreads into the towel you should be able to determine the color of the fluid without the dirt contamination.

    Rf Stereo Replacement Woes...

I'm no expert on car stereo installations, but here is a link to my stereo installation on that other site that might be helpful: https://www.thenewx.org/threads/how-to-install-gps-stereo-head-unit-and-backup-camera.245969/#post-3886137

    The Dumb Question Thread

I bought an Orbit Telescoping Gutter Cleaning Wand for cleaning the undersides of my vehicles - mainly for rinsing off de-icing spray. I don't use it as much as I probably should, but it does give a pretty powerful spray and you can adjust the angle of the sprayer as needed. I connect all of...

    Led Pods As Foglight

Sorry, didn't notice that you have a first generation X. The comment below was meant for a gen 2, but maybe you have similar attachment points for the stock fog lights... The plastic bumper cover has two attachment points for each of the stock fog lights. Maybe you can use them to mount the...

    Blower Fan Repair

I recommend removing your resistor card and taking a good look at it before buying a new one. There were two different types of cards used in 2005+ Xterras. I ordered the wrong type for my 2011 (Standard Motor Products Part #RU365). Since I was just going to replace it as a preventative...

    Blower Fan Repair

I have a 2011 and replaced the blower motor about a year ago with a VDO from Rock Auto (part #PM9282). It's worked fine since. Also replaced the cabin air filters with ATP (part #RA39). $64 for the blower motor and $9 for the filters.

    Headlight Restoration Kits

I used the 3M Headlight Restoration Kit (Heavy Duty – Drill Activated) on seven year old yellowed headlights. It works pretty well, but the headlights stay clear for only about a year. The kit is good for about three rounds of use as long as you seal the packages back up so the wax doesn't...

    Broken leaf

I have a 2011, and my bolts were also mounted with the nuts on the outside. There was enough room to access the bolt heads and nuts and remove the bolts without touching the skid plate - but just barely. Maybe the dimensions changed on newer models.

    Broken leaf

I didn't have to remove the gas tank skid plate to replace the rear springs (I used two wrenches - not sockets - to loosen the bolts that attach the forward ends of the springs). I used a floor jack to pry one of those wrenches hard enough to loosen the nuts. The nut attaching the top of the...

    Reset check engine light

I have a 2011 and have never seen a service reminder light.

    Noob need clarification

Replacing the rear shocks is pretty straightforward, but if your bolts are rusty it can be a real PITA to get the nuts off. The worst one is the top nut on the passenger side shock. I eventually gave up on that nut and had a shop remove it. An impact wrench would help, but access is very...
