I really wanted to steal S&S's inverter idea for myself but due to the RF with BT there was no room under the seats to mount it. HF had a sweet sale on a 750 peak 1500 watt inverter, $29.00 on sale with coupons, so I pulled the trigger on it. I also paid the extra $5.00 for the two year free replacement warranty which is well worth it to me.
I finally found a spot to mount it out of the way but still accessible if need be and fabricated a mounting plate out of some scrap I had laying around.

I first cut the aluminum to fit the size of the inverter. I then unbolted the crossmember directly below the steering wheel, drilled holes through the upper lip and aluminum piece, and finally I riveted the two together.

The Inverter fits amazingly well in this spot.

Mounted one of the plugs tonight. :)
It's stealthy. :)

Made some more progress today. Picked up a couple of tool replacement cords from HD. 1/2 the price of an extension cord.

Soldered the ends of the wire so I could utilize the quick connect

Mounted the solenoid to my relay bracket:

Wiring Diagram for solenoid. The solenoid can be wired in either direction, meaning there is not a specific side the power wire from the battery has to be attached to.

I will update as the install progress. I just couldn't restrain myself.
Any suggestions from people with a similar setup would be great.
Thanks

Well done! It never would have occurred to me to locate a switch or the outlet where you put them. That's pure genius.

A couple of the links don't work, though.

I'm a little confused, is the solenoid the power inverter? Great setup, if that's all there is to it, then will have to do it.

The solenoid, put simply, allows you to turn power on and off to things that require ALOT of power, like an inverter. A simple rocker switch would melt and destroy itself if enough current was passed through it.

The small rocker switch installed above the climate knobs switches power on/off to the solenoid. When power is sent to the solenoid, the solenoid allows current to flow to the attached device (an inverter in this case).

The inverter itself is not shown in the pictures, however I assume it's located behind the dash in close proximity to the solenoid.
