The link to the wiring mod in the first post should be fixed now. Google security changed and though I had it set for all access, it wasn't giving access.

Soon there will be a plug n play option for those that want to have full control over their factory locker. This interface will plug in between your chassis harness and the "computer" that controls your locker. This is based on the mod that doesn't give you warning lights and does not require extra switches or relays. It uses factory style connectors, if you can work a locking style plug, you can install this thing. No wiring work required. I currently have parts to build 5 and am assembling the prototype for a local X that does not have the wiring mod.

IF your X didn't come with the locking 226 from the factory, you don't need this mod. Factory equipped locking X's come with a controller (DLCU) that only allows locker engagement in 4lo with a wheel speed at and under 4 mph. This reduces liability to Nissan in that there is less of a chance of locker engagement at an inappropriate time. Anyone who has an aftermarket locker in their vehicle has the ability to lock there diff at the wrong time. With you wiring direct control power to your transplanted axle, you will be able to engage it at anytime.
As I understand it, the M226 Factory Locker will only engage in 4Low @ under 4mph? So with this mod, you're saying this will allow me to use the locker in 4Hi while I'm driving on the beach @10-15mph & I can turn it on/off like I do the 4WD, on the fly??

Yep, if the teeth are that far off, it may take some movement for things to line up and the halves to mesh together. This isn't affected by the mod, it would have taken that much movement to get a lock of you were stock.

Enjoy!

Hey Rippie

Unfortunately, it will not. Frontier III and Titan II have the locker control integrated into the CAN BUS system. However, access to wiring to do a wiring mod is easer on your III than our II's. It's a wiring bundle right by the gas pedal inboard on the transmission tunnel, IIRC. I do understand the hesitancy to do a wiring mod on a newer vehicle, one that is also under warranty. I've given details to a Titan owner, we sort of scratched it out in notes. I should probably make a formal wiring diagram. You keep the factory switch but lose the dash indicator. If your locker switch uses a Carling style switch, it could be switched out with a switch with an internal indication.

IF ANYONE KNOWS SOMEONE WHO IS UP TO SPEED ON CAN BUS MODS, I HAVE THE HARDWARE CHANGES FOR FRONTIER III / TITAN II TO COORDINATE THE SOFTWARE MODS TO. I WILL GIVE IT THEM AND IT WOULD BE THIERS TO SELL AS A MOD.
