I've never worked anywhere where I could say that.

I hate those. Literally despise. My time is my own. If a party is held during work hours, whatever. But I will not give more of my time than is needed for people who are just my co-workers.

Depends. I've definitely had jobs where I felt that way. But if there's work people I genuinely enjoy hanging out with, and there's an open bar....

I work for a good small company. The party is at 1 of the local hotels that does x-mas parties for the small business association. So there will be around 8-12 small businesses. The food has always been really good and the boss covers the bar tab for the company and hotel rooms for the senior people and cabs for the rest. So there really is no complaining.

Any that I’ve gone to in the past people either get way too intoxicated and reveal too much about themselves or all they want to do is talk shop after hours. So I do not enjoy them.

Ever do a load of laundry that just doesn't work? No matter what you do the ufcking machine won't spin. Everything is always out of balance.

What's worse, you then take the clothes from the very reliable Whirlpool washer that won't spin properly and put them into the Samsung dryer that came with the house (you threw the Samsung washer away years ago because it was hot ufcking garbage). And you tell this bullshiat Samsung dryer to "time dry" for an hour. Because it'll take at least that long. And after 10 minutes, the dryer shuts off and gives up.

Samsung needs to STOP MAKING APPLIANCES!

And the next house may have commercial applications just because hotels can't afford to have shiat not spin.

years ago i saw my mom nearly kick the washer repair man out the door since he said and i quote "yeah most modern units these days useualy last about 10 or so years. we got a sale going on btw." no one repairs shiat anymore, we just buy a new one like we all have 50s money in a 50s post war boom world.

Can confirm. My Samsung dryer required parts about every six months till I finally gave up during a Costco sale and replaced them both. Though going GE was also a mistake.

At indoor ranges you shouldn't worry too much about clothing. The 00 however will travel thru exterior walls and still be traveling lethal velocity..

Yah, wife bought a new place 5 years ago (was just before we met), builder did GE all the way around. Washer died 2.5 years in, pump failed. Me, being all handyman and cheap, looked for a replacement. Looked up part number, discontinued. Replacement part number listed. Looked up replacement, also discontinued. Replacement listed. 2nd replacement, also discontinued, no part number listed. Like, seriously, how do you have 3 replacement parts for a 3 year old washer, and then just give up?
GE dryer died a year later... Dishwasher still runs but the plastic bits that keep the rack in place keep falling off, been doing that for years. Oven still functions fine, but I hate the controls on it...

GE licensed their name to a random company known to make garbage, pretty much the only thing GE proper makes nowadays are parts for power plants.

We replaced the laundry stuff with Kenmore Elite from a used shop, that stuff is rock solid. And despite being over 10 years old, I can still buy replacement parts for it (haven't needed to, but I checked...)

Speed Queen, are really good units..
Do not own one yet!! .. The new Name brand ones you buy in the Box Junk stores, are Designed to fail after 4 years. And getting to the parts, is not designed to fix. Thus, must buy new ones... Great marketing!!.. screw the Quality.. Sell new new new.. for that profit margin.

I got into a habit, of taking a Sharpie. Anything new. I date stamp it. Gives you idea of short life span of things.

https://www.repairclinic.com is a good source for parts.

Wife and I watched it, I thought it was really good
Oh I'm enjoying it! It's really good story telling and an interesting blend of genres with a slight amount of woke culture thrown in. Overall I think it's a really fun series.

Just thought some of it was pretty obviously TB wishing he could cast Depp as Wednesday but having to settle for the teenage female doppelganger in his Addams Family/Nancy Drew mashup.
