Said by someone who clearly hasn't seen my basement. Or living room. Or dining room. Or workspace.... Or back of my X when my office does a major upgrade... Or work handles a bankruptcy case...
There's a considerable difference between a computer person buying a used machine and average Jon Q Buttompusher buying a used machine.

Kinda like when you're non-car buddy buys an old heap for too much and wants you to help get it going.

Emissions done. The technical people couldn't explain why the truck wouldn't talk to the state system. It worked fine on their Snap-On reader. He said they checked it pin by pin and everything was doing what it was supposed to do. So they sniffed the tail pipe and called it a pass. And because I didn't have to get it through the state system that normal people use, I didn't have to pay for the test.

In this day and age, it doesn't even have to be a used machine.

Buys Chromebook from BestBuy for $400 because that fits in their budget better than the $2500 laptop you told them to get, and then asks you why they can't edit videos on it

I discovered a crack in the hard shell. I figured I'd try to get it warrantied, since it's been less than a year. I think I somehow ended up with a pre-production model somehow, as there are some differences between mine, and what I see in videos of the tents. Either way, I'm getting a brand new one. I'm free to do whatever I want with the original.

Oh yeah that’s nothing. Definitely can fix and sell. Or put it on a different vehicle. Or fix and keep and sell the brand new one as brand new and recoup 100% of your original cost.
