Any fans of Rush on here? (This is a leading question.....)
Can’t say I’m a “fan”, but I appreciate their music and like whenever I hear them.

Grew up with an older brother and sister that turned me on to the music of that time.
Rush, REO, Kiss, Journey, Led, Jefferson, Clapton, et al…..

Coupled with my parents being into Moody Blues, Sinatra, Bing, Simon and Funkle, anything old real Bluegrass….

My stuff young was Prince, Def, Police, Madonna, Pet Shop, INXS, Halen, so on and so forth….

Then came punk and hardcore.
Then industrial, goth, ebm, and various other odd bits…..

The Dead South and Wolf Alice are currently in rotation.

We had a local band, The Host, a few years ago that I damn thought were gonna be HUGE. They inexplicably broke up.
Live shows were SPOT ON the couple cd’s they put out. I was bummed. Loved their sound. Had a touch of Rush in em.
I think there is still one song left on YouTube…..

Don’t ask me why all that just poured out, lol. “Rush” got me thinking and down the hole we went!

Neil Peart, the drummer of Rush was a big fan of a British group called Porcupine Tree. Porcupine Tree just came out with a new album after a 12 year hiatus. The leader of the band, Steven Wilson, put out 5 albums during that period that are excellent.

The most recent Porcupine Tree album is called Continuation/Closure.

Porcupine Tree does alt-rock, art rock, jazz synthesis and progressive metal. This is better than Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Camel and all the other progressive rock peers from the late 60s and 70s. Still love those bands. Yes was my favourite over half a century ago.

In addition to fans of the above groups, fans of Tool tend to also like this band.

The back catalog from the album Signify on are all excellent. If one single album stands out, it would In Absentia. This is the song .3 from that album.
