Thanks for keeping up with this thread. Your build is a real inspiration.

Im piecing my Supercharger together now. I hope to start installing it soon. I also have the first gen. Sometimes I think I have more fun in the garage than using it. But burnout is real. Gotta mix the fun stuff in with the boring stuff.

Anyway, can’t wait to see the 37 on. Congrats on all you hard work
Thanks Dingy, I appreciate all the kind words and am glad to hear my build is helping others stay motivated with their builds. I cant wait to see yours!

I will say, the Supercharger and the SAS have both been such great upgrades. with 37s and 4.9 gearing the truck has no problem doing 70mph, climbing hills, etc. I street drive it way more than I should, but the power is great!

Man, I have like no excuse for not getting my simple 3" SUA Waggy Swap started.

Ya shamed me to GLORY!
SUA is a good start, you will sit pretty tall, too tall in my opinion, but its still a massive improvement over the stock stuff. I'm glad to hear another person will be joining the darkside.

Finally had a free weekend to rip around the X, its been too long.

We headed out to Long beach Washington for the "X invasion" and it was pretty fun. The supercharger swap really shines on the long hill climbs through the coastal range of Oregon/Washington. With 37s and 4.9 gears its effortless, while the NA guys were flooring it to hold 50mph on 33s, I was cruising up at 60mph. The dodge master cylinder has been huge improvement as well, normally under a 60-0mph situation the truck was very unstable, hence the front passenger damage from a wall slam, but now Its easily controllable.

Sunday we headed out to a local trail just to goofy around and catch the sunset. I really need to get some real wheeling in soon.

Once I sell my FZJ80 I will be regearing, adding ARB lockers, as well as adding a front Currie sway bar.

After seeing how well Paul's Frontier did on the 4:1 crawler gears, I had to get a set. Hopefully I'll have my doublers knocked out before next summer, too.

It's good to see you are still pushing this build along nicely! I thought you were going to get rid of it when you went quite for a while during the sas. Do you know what weight you are sitting at now? I forget is the truck a manual? I have run my auto with 35's on a NA vg33e and either the motor is not what it used to be or the trans is finally giving up the ghost, did the supercharger really make that big of a difference for faster driving?

Thanks man! I am really happy I kept it, I think I was going crazy from two years of headaches and project delays, but Ive put 10,000 miles on it since the SAS and its been great. I actually have been meaning to weigh it, but havent done it yet. How about you?

This one is an auto, stock with 32s and 4.9s it did okay, better than my old one with 4.6s. But the supercharger made a huge difference! I can spin the 37s with the 4.9s, I can pass people going up hill, etc. It's mind-blowing how much of an improvement it made.

Prior to rock sliders, front fender bars, and radius arm swap it was 4900lbs with me in it with no tools(I carry 3-400lbs worth of tools), no spare, and half a tank of fuel. Once my two other coil wires get put in ;) I will re weight it. How much did the Supercharger swap cost you?

I now see what you mean about the additional coil wires haha. Well done! I bet you are gonna be stoked once its ripping around. I am stoked for you!

I think im like $600 into the SC swap. Some guy had most of the parts on ebay for like $1000, but it had been up for months, so I would regularly low ball him until he finally caved.

It makes me happy to see this project still be a thing.
Thanks man, that means a lot coming from you. I remember your build thread being one the the first ones that inspired me to build an X.

I really happy I kept this truck, it just keeps getting better and better.

Not much has changed, but its officially been SAS and running for a year now, so that's exciting! I was invited to the Winter wonderland Gambler 500 as a recovery vehicle. It was a blast! I was supporting a small team of volvos ( weirdo friends of mine) one being an NA-T 940 wagon with a rear locker and some general grabbers, the other being a lifted V70R, awd. Let me tell you, that V70R put a few 4wd vehicles to shame. There was also a lifted VW diesel-power 960 Volvo as well.

31s with no fender mods turned out to be a hindrance for this Volvo.

Little toyota ran out of talent, right on a 600ft cliff. we were able to get him back on the road safely. I also had to teach him how to use his locker.

Well, after many years and a load of fun miles it’s time to sell this little beast. I’ll be listing it here next month to fund a Y60 SWB patrol.

man this is awesome! I'd keep it if possible, knowing full and well how cool an old patrol is
Yeah, I’ve loved this truck while I’ve had it but I’ve kind of fallen out of love with it as it doesn’t fit my life as well now with a small kid. What better excuse than to build another chassis? Ha. Plus, I have no need for two solid axle Nissans.

I'm trying to squeeze out as many trips with this thing before it heads to a new home, so a few of us got together to find some snow in SW washington. Boy did we find some!

My buddy's unstoppable Vehicross, it has done most of Moab and made it back home to Washington more than once.

For those still contemplating the NA-SC swap, here is your sign to do it ASAP. It spins the 37s with ease.

Right?! That thing is dope!

And the van! Love it.
not to hijack the thread but they were a truck ahead of their time, even if the di 3.5 and tod had teething problems di and systems similar to torque on demand are common place today, couple that with that it can only be one thing looks and a unicorn pearl white one that actually does exist somewhere......

I completely agree. They were way ahead of their time with these with the molded cladding, allowing for easy wheel arch mods ha, plenty of power, surprising stout drivetrain, and Recaro interior with color pop. It's like seeing a prototype truck in person.
